And their estimated transfue value (in my opinion)
Arsenal: Robin van Persie (35 million)
Aston Villa: Darren Bent (15 million)
Blackburn Rovers: Scott Dann (8 million)
Bolton Wanderers: Gary Cahill (12 million)
Chelsea: Fernando Torres (when on form) (20 million)
    Everton: Leighton Baines (13 million)
    Fulham: Clint Dempsey (7 million)
    Liverpool: Luis Suarez (20 million)
Man City: David Silva (45 million)
Man United: Wayne Rooney (40 million)
Newcastle United: Cheik Tiote (25 million)
Norwich City: Anthony Pilkington (3 million)
    QPR: Joey Barton (3.5 million)
Stoke City: Ryan Shawcross (6 million)
    Sunderland: Seb Larsson (6 million)
    Swansea: Scott Sinclair (6.5 million)
    Tottenham: Luka Modric (30 million)
West Brom: Peter Odemwingie (5 million)
    Wigan: Ali Al-Habsi (6 million)
    Wolves: Kevin Doyle (6 million)

    Agree?

If Torres in poor form was worth £50 million i think an in form Torres would at least be the same. Not saying he is worth it, just the way the market is now!

If Torres was £50mill, based on his possible form, then Van Persie should go for at least £50million as well, if not more.

    10/11: 25 apps - 18 goals - 7 assists
    11/12: 13 apps - 13 goals - 3 assists

In arguably the toughest league in the world. I'd certainly put him down as the 3rd best striker on the planet below Ronaldo and Messi.

Imagine those three up front together!!!!!

I would have RVP ahead of Ronaldo as a striker, personally. Bear in mind that Ronaldo is'nt actually a striker.

I think your estimates are a little off...

Darren Bent cost 24m, Suarez cost 22m (I think?) Tottenham turned down 40m for Modric...Surely those have to be filtered in when deciding their worth?

Depends on what you mean by 'worth'. For example at the time Andy Carroll was worth at least 35m to us since he was our main striker, scoring for fun and we'd apparently be screwed without him.

Same for Pilkinton at Norwich. Worth say 3m to any other team but I bet they'd miss him a lot more than 3m if he went.

"things are only worth what someone is willing to pay" - Whether that's higher than what most would consider reasonable or lower.

    I'd rather have Sturridge.

I'd have both as they're both exceptional players, but Mata is a class above.

Also got to take into consideration the fact that what players are actually worth and what teams need to pay in order to prize a player away from a club are different things. Mandy for example. I wouldn't say Bent is worth 24 million, but I would certainly say he's worth more than 15. Is Modric worth 40? Matter of opinion really. It's hard to say what players are worth, money in football is just so stupid nowadays. Worth different amounts to different clubs, really.

Hoillet and Rochina for Blackburn are probably worth £10million each.

Scott Dann is stupidly overrated, as was all of Birmingham's defence last year. Never has a team gone down with a defence so praised. Ridiculous.
