That would be fantastic. Always felt he was underrated at Citih, the press pressured them to sell him every window.
Roma might pull the plug on Edin Dzeko after just one season, as Sunderland could bring him back to the Premier League. The Bosnia international has failed to impress since arriving from Manchester City at a cost of €15m. He scored eight Serie A goals in 31 games, plus two in seven Champions League appearances. Dzeko above all became famous for some astonishing misses and as his confidence evaporated, he began to be left on the bench. According to Sky Sport Italia, the Giallorossi have found a club willing to take him off their hands this summer. Sunderland are interested in signing Dzeko, but have so far offered only £11m (€14m) compared to the £15m (€19m) asking price. Wages should not be an issue, as they are believed to be worth £40,000 per week.
There's a misprint that's being carried over on every report of this and that his wages are 140K pw. There's no way us or Roma would pay those wages so it must be 40k which makes sense given it's Italy.
"The Bosnia international has failed to impress since arriving from Manchester City at a cost of €15m." "Dzeko above all became famous for some astonishing misses and as his confidence evaporated, he began to be left on the bench." And he's now the wrong side of 30. And they somehow think his value has increased in the last year?!? **** them, he's a decent player no doubt but if clubs are gonna treat us like mugs I'd rather we tell them where to go. We have the whole summer to look for other options.
Given the difference between the 'bid' and 'valuation' it's only early stages, but you can count on one thing. The price is higher for any premier league club no matter where the player is. Cost of the TV deal. We pay more than anyone else. Inflation is upon us, and every other team in the league.
Seems strange that we'd go for him when Sakho seems to be his number one target. Sakho, Defoe and Dzeko fighting for one place? Can't see it. I can only imagine SA is going to be playing with 2 strikers next season. I suspect this is bs. Would love it to be true, though. What a player, I always admired him at City.
Without a doubt he would be our biggest signing ever if he comes !, come on Sam. Ronaldo is playing crap at the minute so gerin for him as well we could swap him for Graham.
West ham might be stubborn over the Sakho price. Makes sense to publicly pursue secondary targets. Could force West Ham to accept a lower bid as they don't really want the player anyway. If they still won't budge on price we've already put in most of the negotiation done on the secondary target. At which point publicly move onto the 3rd . Could also be Dzeko's agent putting out a come and get me plea to premiership teams with Sunderland representing he minimum level(that would mean a no to promoted teams). Or it could just be Italian Journo's filling web space. Roma may be more willing to take instalments and add ons. Both teams value their players at a similar price, if Westham are showing no flexibility on payments Sam may have thought '**** it! I can get Dzeko for that.' Dzeko isn't at the Euros and Sam stayed at home so it's a deal the Euros wouldn't interfere with. Part of me thinks Sam is ambitious enough. That and I just really want it to be true
Is he a grafter though mate? Only asking because I don't recall him being a 90 minute, 100% effort type of player. Could be my bad memory though. I'd be concerned about buying a luxury high-profile high-cost name who'd only put in the odd big game.
He a strong handful mate. Certainly not a flare player who needs to be carried. Scores, creates and can develop play. Not the quickest though but by no means slow.
http://www.gazzettaworld.com/news/transfer-market/roma-star-sunderland-switch/ This one says hes not interested.
Not sure about this, he is a decent player and that is all, he is on the way down imo. and could well follow in the costly wake of our Man C bargains AJ and JR. Its either paper talk or lazy scouting, hope its the former tbh. Certainly no more than 10m down with a few add ons.
He's in a different league to AJ and JR. He's performed at the highest level throughout his career. Just a decent player He won the Bundesliga at Wolfsburg. His goalscoring record was 66 in 111 and he averaged 10 assists each season. His record at Man City was 50 goals in 130 appearances. Many of them appearances were as a substitute. At Roma he's scored 10 in 39 during his first season. Nothing special but it was his first season in the league and goals are harder to come by there. German and English football is quite similar, he's been highly successful in both.
Dzeko would be a great signing. I can't see him being on £40k a week though, when he went to City we were also interested and they offered him silly wages, so I can't see him being on a relative pittance now.
This is all I am saying, his Wolfsburg days are a distant memory. Its early days and we are going to be quoted inflated prices, but 15m is a lot of money even in todays market.
