In my opinion drink driving is a despicable thing to do, there is just no excuse for it.

Look at it like this...I can just about handle an inebriated mass of pissed up masculinity hurting towards me, but cloaked in a tonne of the finest germanic engineering and all of a sudden my chances are not looking so great.

    Get a f***ing cab you ars****s.

Crikey! It gets worse! Drunk driving, taking drugs, leaving the scene of an accident. Whatever next - a body in the boot? <yikes>

Shows you what sort of state they were in when they never even noticed that they'd left their captain behind. Unconscious. Seriously injured.

Both drivers should be jailed. This goes beyond simple (if there's such a thing) drink driving. The only drink driving footballer I can remember is Tony Adams, who got 4 months in the jug for his sins. Not sure if there was more to it to get jailed for so long. Can anyone remember anyone more recent? Or has Mr Loophole got them all off since then?

Jan Molby got 3 months jail the season before Adams

and Dean Saunders was recently jailed for 10 weeks, although only ended up serving a day

A young lad who lives nearby was caught drunk, on drugs and leaving the scene of an accident after wrapping his car around a lamppost and he got 6 months. It was his first arrest. I worked with his uncle.

Maybe if our scout had been pissed whilst watching Derby we would have got a smaller fine and less press attention

If he had been pissed nobody would have noticed him, it's because he was sober that he stood out.

No sympathy for Saunders - hope he gets the book thrown at him.

Was in an hotel at the start of this millenium with a number of Wales players past and present. Robbie Savage and Gary Speed were both still playing for Wales, Ian Rush and Dean Saunders had just both packed it in.

Savage was brilliant with us and although quiet compared to Savage, so was Speed. Ian Rush came across as a really genuine nice bloke, but Saunders - what an arrogant little ****!

I think he'd had a few by the time we saw him, but that was no excuse for his dismissive attitude - he just turned his back and didn't want to know us the jumped up little squirt. I appreciate that players can get pestered by their supporters to the point of gettting a bit cheesed off, but some forget how fortunate they were.
