......and if this is going to work, the clubs will need to either give annual pass renewals a massive massive loyalty incentive to maintain Summer cash flow, or indeed suffer a huge drop in upfront cash from passholders and thus adopt a new cash flow model for each 12 month period

I've just checked the table of prices for the Championship on the BBC's Price of Football survey, which was released last week. Apparently 84 of the other 91 League clubs offer some form of cheaper season ticket than us, including Man City and every team in the Football League. Jesus H Christ <yikes>

They got our price wrong, so on the basis that what I know the truth about isn't correct in the report I'm not going to trust any of the figures for other clubs to be accurate either.

Crucially, the whole system works by changing the mindset of season ticket holders - loyal supporters who always pay less than anyone else and who traditionally feel aggrieved if a club slashes prices for 'casual' fans.

This seems to get to the crux of the matter.

When Hull City put on an offer we always seem to get the season ticket holders (not all by any means) complaining that it is not fair. Maybe if they saw the offers in the context of this article they would reconsider.

Something has to be sorted, our crowd was up a thousand from the previous home game, £20 anywhere in the ground, i took my daughter in the East stand who is 13 and it was only £6 for her, i could have paid £3 in the south stand, i still think a good idea would be for season pass holders be able to take someone in for a fiver or ten pound because pass holders would then ask friends/family ect and advertise for the club, i think this would be the best way for a sudden increase in the crowd

Well why not try it at City now. Open ticket sales for say the Charlton and Watford home games as a taster now.

Starting price £5 accross the board. Like an ebay auction lets see how much they rise as the game dates get closer and maybe the importance of the games grow. Worth a try.
