Worth a read and comment think he misses something here. In my world you Lead people and manage resources; should it be any different in Football? http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/08112011/63/young-dyche.html
Wonder how far they have regressed , to former lifetimes maybe? Can they still remember the way to london Colney?
I am pleased to read this. One of the "failing" I accused SD of was that he was not using youngsters but to learn that it is not because he is after a quick fix but he considers that using them too high too much too early harms them shows he is making a decision that he strongly believes in. He could be right too - I think we have helped players who have come to us on loan so it will obviously also work the other way. Another positive for SD
I wonder how Whichelow and Hodson are feeling about that? One thing to be told that in the confines of the training ground, but another thing to have it printed for all to see.
Maybe he's preparing them for when they do come good and have real rubbish printed about them by the media?
Last night Dyche seemed to suggest some of the youngsters hadn't been in the right frame of mind to come into the 1st team or thought they didn'tr have to work hard...
SD has spent a lot of time working with youngsters and I am prepared to believe that he knows what he is doing when it comes to having them ready for first team football.
It's what i've been saying all along, and where i could see his thinking was going. Glad he's stated it now...it seemed obvious!
I guess the problem for some youngsters is as soon as they get a run of a few games in the first team, they think they have 'made it', especially if they get all the plaudits. Some do need bringing back down to earth, so I would say Sean and Co are the best ones to judge that on an individual basis! I do agree, Massey is probably the perfect example on how it should work. get a little taste of what the first team is like, then send him out on loan to get the experience and match sharpness, so when he comes back he is desperate to make our first team, and hopefully hit the ground running for us! As long as the youngsters still see a route through to the first team (Hodson is getting his chance now) then I am happy with the current policy... But certainly agree the 5-sub rule is hurting us and we need to fight to get the 7-subs rule back! Hopefully we can tell the FL they screwed up big time on the EPPP, so need to offer something back!
As always you were ahead of us H - my only criticism is he could have explained himself to us fans a bit earlier as we are generally quite understanding and would appreciate being "in the know" - hopefully he has explained it to the youngsters as well that he is considering their long term interest
As long as the kids can still see a route through to the 1st team , that is the critical thing , also that road has to be more plausible for their career then moving to a big prem team to soon and for a pittance to WFC `s coffers! ( we await with baited breath the difference between cat 1 and cat 2 academies!) If the kids cant see a way through they will go , simple as! I understand Sean has to walk a tightrope with this , but I still think we could and should have seen a little more of some of them! Granted the 5 sub ruling has stunted that still further!
As a follow-up, I wonder what SDs thoughts are about Thommo and Hodson now being full internationals?
