Don't see anything wrong with that. He was excellent for the first part of the season. His form has tapered off somewhat since but still a good player. Should be used more sparingly as needs to be rested. I have no doubt but that he has a good attitude and will be a useful squad player at the very least next season. Surprised though that they didn't wait until the end of the season when we will know what division we will be in.
Really....not that bad. If we have two young CBs Ned and Donaldson playing week in week out...then we need a solid figure on the bench.....would have preferred Clint I must admit...as he would die for the RRRRs even after his legs have gone
The way it is worded very much points to him triggering a clause probably having played a certain number of games. As others say good back up to have.
Yeah they mentioned triggered so its definitely a clause, it still doesn't mean he will be here, HH had the same thing and we sold him before the season started.
Not sure why you think the extension is a joke. Dunne along with Hill both have been largely the reason for the few number of goals conceded this season. A bit like Hill, the legs on Dunne are going, they need a regular rest so that Ned and Donaldson (per Beth's comment) get regular game time alongside either Dunne or Hill. Both Hill & Dunne are unable to play every game throughout the season. Use the experience of Dunne alongside the younger CB's and we'll have a solid foundation not only for 2015, but also develop youngsters to take over when Dunne and Hill finally decide to hang up their boots. Experience in defence should not be under-estimated, just because the pace has gone from the players.
Because he's an honest pro who tries his best, mind you, he'd be on there if he continues to decline at the rate he has this season. Henry would get lonely being on there by himself.
And here we are again. We have had these comments regularly during each of the last three seasons and Clint continues to make a mockery of them whenever he turns out. He has never been known as a speedster so why people think he is now slowing down is a mystery. In many ways his standard of play has improved with each year he has been with us including this one. Yes, there will come a time when he can't do it anymore but can we please stop anticipating when that might be (simply based on his age and nothing else as far as I can tell) and just admire a top professional still at the top of his game.
He did have a clause but the above posters are right. He's a good player and will be valuable, whatever league we're in next season. He shouldn't be used as the main player for his position but he'll be a valuable player and cover.
I agree but would come at it from a slightly different angle. What gets me is that people constantly say Onuoha is the best CB we have yet when he plays he often gets turned inside out! A decent player but fellas are only saying he's the best of the three because he's younger. He might have pace but he's not got the experience of the other two and is quite prone to running himself into an awful lot of trouble.
Pleased to have him in our side and cannot understand the slagging ... He is a rock IMO and if he stays fit one of the first names on the sheet for me
I agree with both of you but would say that Onouha thrives when he's consistently played. When he isn't getting a regular look in he can seem worse than he really is.
Which is why most of us wanted him playing every game with Dunne/hill in the other spot, not Dunne and hill together or hill at LB. Of course us being short of a CB means the old pair have played too much.
