Considering he's arguably paid for his own fee in terms of our final position in the table and the associated prize money, it should be sorted by now. What I'm thinking is we've decided it's necessary to clear some off the wage bill before signing new players. Mitro and Mbemba will probably go on the first day of the window and we'll bring Dubravka in afterwards.
Some media have suggested Ashley has said nothing moves until Rafa signs. Charnley couldn’t find the line if it was tattooed on his forehead under the words “here is the line”.
We are not going to sign anyone before we know what's happening with the manager. It would be stupid. If Rafa leaves then the new guy might come in and say "don't want him".
Agreed, though it works the other way too ..Many players want to come FOR Rafa ..Rafa not here ..go to another club with a good manager/coach and ambition
Indeed. The club and Rafa need to resolve their situation quickly. Like the transfers its a two way street. The other side of things too is Rafa may want to see what else is available. He might feel he can do better than Dubravka.
Also we are currently saving on his wages. But it is defo the Rafa saga. Which means until that is sorted we won't be signing anyone! Great!
That's a pretty decent point. Maybe we are definitely going to have him but all the while he is someone else's player we aren't paying the wages.
Cue us missing out as the Rafa contract situation drags, and the anti Ashley brigade insist it was a devious plan by mad Mike to avoid buying the player. I wonder what the deadline on our deal with Sparta is?
Is that new rule in next season ie transfer window closes on 9th of August and throw in a world cup and you're not left with much time!
Worst thing about this is it's a transfer just to stand still. Actually, when you bear in mind Kenedy going and to a much lesser extent Slimani, we're already two steps behind that. So signing Dubravka means we're only 2 steps back, not 3. Guess Mike n Lee don't see it that way, though.
