So it looks to be confirmed as Chris goreham tweeted "got Adam drury on the breakfast show to talk about his big testimonial vs Celtic" Looking forward to it, Celtic always bring a great following and is just the kind of match Adam deserves
will be a good game, wonder if we will see many old stars who drury has played with in his city carrer?
I'm a bit disappointed to be honest, I'd got my heart set on Dortmund. Im sure Celtic will be a goodun though.
If it is anything like the last time we played Celtic it should a cracking night - assuming PL doesn't throw on the physio and the rest of the back room staff! We battered Celtic in the first half with the 'normal' team. Then on came Greg Shepherd & co in the 2nd half and we lost 4-2. I was really disappointed with the 2nd half but the atmosphere that night, generated by some 5,000 hoops, was awesome
lets hope the celtic 'fans' who attended the last match between the sides at carrow road don't smash the city to pieces again.
My guess would be it will be a minimal presence again apart from around the ground once again. Let's be honest, how hard must it be to keep 5000 drunken people contained when they are spread out over 1/2 the city? I cannot see the club wanting to pay for the resources and the police sure as hell wont do it for nothing.
thai, i'm very, very surprised by this decision to play celtic. the problems the city incurred last time they were in town were massive and although it must have been a good 15 years ago now, i still remember it well. threatening behaviour i can cope with to a degree (not that i should), but the smashing up of pubs, shops and nearby cars and homes i can not. drury is a legend but i doubt i shall attend.
I'll try to get there, work allowing. I've always had Celtic as my Scottish team, so it'd be good to see actually see them. Here's a something we've been pondering at work: Adam Drury has now had three years under Lambert, and Lambert describes him as the best one on one defender he's ever worked with. The question we've been chewing over is if Drury was five years younger, but still playing in the current side, would he have made it into an England side? We came to the conclusion he would definitely be a brilliant back up to Ashley Cole, but like Holt and Ruddy, would miss out because he plays for Norwich.
Based on the 'off pitch' events last time I cannot do anything but agree with you. Historically it has been the case of inviting Celtic or Rangers on to English soil has proved problematic either in the ground or out of it (often both). However, up to a point I can understand the choice of team, because they just about a guarantee a full house, which in turn gives the person having the testimonial a bigger payday. Looking at it from the clubs point of view, it might cost them a little more for policing the stadium but they still want to do the best for the player. The police on the other hand must be stupid! Surely someone in the Norfolk Constabulary must remember the last time this mob visited the fine city?
