Been before but didn't drive. I hear parking's a nightmare, any tips from people who've driven there before on where to park?

Go to Heworth Metro station and catch the Metro to St. James Park.

aye this, the public transport is pretty decent, don't need to even go into newcastle ( in the car, i mean, you probably have to if you wish to attend)

There are several multi-story and open ground level car parks within 10 minutes walk of the ground, and if full they usually have a fairly quick turnaround on a Saturday. Although I would, as already suggested consider parking south of the Tyne and getting a Metro to Central Station. All trains run to there from Gateshead. It saves you having to come through the Tyne Tunnel if you've come up the A19. The A1 after the Angel of The North is a **** at the moment if you're coming that way. 40 mph limit, which you won't achieve because you'll be crawling like a snail. So Heworth, Pelaw or any Metro station might be better. From Central Station you are a 10 minute stroll to SJP passing some great pubs.

Not that I can immediately think of.

I like Shields. Took the bairns there all the time when they were little.

I've been all over the world.

Worst sunburn I've ever had. South Shields beach. 1996.

    True story.

    Thanks.
Does that include Metro Centre? I'm favouring that option just cos I've already got the directions, postcode etc sorted.

If you do this change at Monument otherwise you'll end up going to Whitley Bay and it'll take you an hour.

The Heworth trains only go indirectly to St James's station, get off at Monument, it's five minutes walk from the ground.

You can't get a Metro train from the Metro centre, but you can get a Northern Rail train as there is a station there on the Carlisle to Newcastle line. You'd need to check frequency but it takes about 10 minutes.

    There are buses too.

I've never used the park and ride but I guess it'll take about 30 minutes.

The tesco scar park in gateshead has 4 hours free parking you can walk across the tyne bridge to SJP takes about 15-20 mins
Or get the metro to monument from gateshead then walk probably a bit quicker
It's the only game I get to walk too bliss !

    Looks good.

If not directed otherwise I'd head for the blue carpark, that's the closest to the coach and train stations. Although that link does mention reserved parking.

You could be delayed getting into the Metro Centre at the moment because of roadworks on the A1 and the A1 from Wetherby north is basically drive at 50 on the hard shoulder, so you may want to allow a little extra time if you come that way.

    I'll wave at you all.

I'll be sat with a couple of work mates keeping very quiet when we score!

Just don't park near a golf course.

You'll come back to a soiled windscreen, it might look like seagull s**te but it won't be.

    It'll be man spuz.

A little present from Ern and his dogging mates.

Don't! The Metro Centre is just as bad to get to the city centre, Any place with a metro south of the river, Heworth is defo best. A1 then A194 then A184 or A19 then A184 depends which way you're going

Here the Post code for your sat nav, It's to a street right next to the station where you'll be able to leave your car. Feel free to google it.
