Off Topic Driverless cars

The chancellor wants driverless cars on the roads by 2021. I wonder, do we really need this facility ? How many of us would really benefit from one and in which way. I can't see me finding it particlularly useful. And can it work with a mix of these and current drivers on the road at the same time ?

(sidenote -- can we work on a goalkeeperless goal ?)
Read the other day of a trial driverless bus in USA crashed with a lorry but the lorry driver caused the crash. That's more the problem - human drivers not the driverless cars who are generally well covered with motion sensors.

Also, you won't own the car in this future plan. There'd effectively just be a massive fleet of driverless electric cabs that you'd call when you wanted to get somewhere.
Now I understand why Uber is investing so heavily in AI.
