http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wolves-eye-loan-move-for-ex-manchester-united-midfielder/ ... he does seem a fair way off first team action right now ... mfor me just about the biggest disappointment of the season ... thought he'd shown enough last season to suggest he could kick on in the Prem ...
Agreed. Most everything good that happened in midfield last season and in the summer pre-season friendlies came through him, and I thought his partnership with James would do well this season.
They havn't been given much of a chance together, either 1 has been injured or suspended for a fair bit of the season, and with Cambiasso coming in, the only way they were going to play together is in a middle 3. I cant see DD going anywhere, i'd rather ship King first.
I wouldnt let any of our midfielders go. Quite a few times this season we have been short on numbers in midfield due to injuries so shipping them out makes no sense now especially Drinkwater who when on form is our best midfielder except for Cambiasso
Totally agree keep DD here! I also thought he would be a Top player for us this year. But must keep him here for next season, which ever league we are in.
We need to keep the vast majority of the squad here for next season regardless of what league we are in. We about 3 or 4 players off a mid table premier league side and we cruised the championship last season with a weaker squad then this so if we keep the majority of it and along with a few new players we would have a great chance of bouncing straight back but nothing is guaranteed
i dont often get over excited about players but i truely thought he was a future england CM. Im sure with a decent pre-season behind him he will come strong next season, this year he just hasnt adapted as quick as we, or him, would have liked
I always felt Andy King would make it, but that's not going to happen now. Drinkwater I think is a good championship player at best.
The thing is, it's either Cambiasso or Drinkwater for me, and Pearson made it clear early on that Cambiasso hadn't come here to sit on the bench. That said, Drinky didn't exactly snatch the opportunities when he has had a chance, but then players who don't player regularly rarely do. That's why we're seeing so many bench warmers being linked with loan moves, to stop them going rusty. As others keep pointing out, we may need them in the Championship next season. :-(
Cambiasso is playing a different role than I expected, I thought he would be a sitting midfielder as that's where he was best at Inter, but his passing is infinitely better than Drinkwater's. That might not have been the role he played at Inter, but they may have had passers better than Cambiasso, as their midfield was very good, back in the day.
Cambiasso was playing with better players at Inter so he best role for the team probably was sitting back pulling the strings while screening the defence while here because he is good enough to play any role in our midfield we play him in a more advanced role Its a shame he isn't a few years younger so he could play 90 minutes every game but then if he was he wouldnt be here
drinkwater hasn't hit it off this season he's a confidence player and I don't think he has belief in himself that he can do it at this level. that being said he's a game changer I'd keep him. At this stage of the season I don't see the merit in loaning him out. I think given a bit of confidence he could be a key player for us regardless of the league we are in
