Harvey Elliot has gone to Blackburn on loan. He needs game time and is not ready for the 1st team yet, as we are out of the league cup he would probably only get a couple of games in the FA Cup before we got knocked out, so good move for him.

 

Harry Wilson has joined Cardiff on loan, pity we could not sell him.

 

Hopefully gets lots of game time. High hopes for him, looks like he has the confidence to step up, just needs a bit of experience now. Still not sure how he fits into our front 3 as doesn’t have the pace that Salah and mane have for our style so maybe a more creative role in midfield? David Silva type

After all those rumours I see Butland ended up going to Palace

 

thanks **** for that. Guy is horrendous atm. Might rediscover some good form as was a decent keeper but last 2 years been shocking. Can’t even get in stoke team now.

 

if it was real we should just have accepted the Burnley offer .

Liverpool are reportedly considering a big-money transfer deal for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly if Virgil van Dijk’s injury leaves him out for a lengthy period.
The Senegal international is one of the finest in the world in his position and could be a superb addition for Liverpool, who may be about to face a defensive crisis.
Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly set to battle it out in a race to sign £50million-rated Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Both Premier League clubs are said to be keeping a keen eye on the progression of the 24-year-old this season after his spectacular introduction to life in the top flight.
The Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp have been impressed by Phillips' handful of appearances at the top table and may be tempted to make a big-money move down the line.

 

No surprise that we are immediately linked to him....we will not buy him though.

 

Does make a lack of CB signing in the window an issue all of a sudden. Guess still have Fab to cover but matip being made of glass he’s gonna get injured again at some point you imagine

 

TBH i have only seen him play the position twice but Fabino looks a very good CB, better than most in the PL.

 

He's intelligent and reads the game well, but not very fast. Because we play a high line and both FBs are usually up the other end we rely on the CBs to cover a lot of ground and he might get caught out over time.
He's still a good option though.

 

Without VVD we prone to concede more goals via set pieces now. Look at what happened against Everton on Saturday

 

Matip isn't quick but was superb alongside VVD for a spell

 

Milner would good at CB when you've been watching Maguire for two years!

 

The issue is that Matip and Gomez have both looked superb alongside VVD ... but let's see how they do without him.

Whilst losing VVD is huge (and I can't stress this enough), we still have some good defenders. Matip, Gomez, Robbo, Trent and even Fabinho. I'm sure Kostas will get a few games as well. We really need Allison back asap.
