Ok, its been talked about on the other threads about the future of this forum, so lets now try to finalise ourselves some house rules. As others are thought of, or they are reworded, I'll try to keep this first post up to date with the most current rules. When people are happy with them, we can look at trying to implement them. I hope this doesn't sound too dictator like, I'm just trying to sum up what people have said elsewhere. House rules: -Play nice! Try and be civil to everyone -Respect everyone's opinions even if you disagree -Please avoid personal insults -No WUM articles (See definition below) -Where you make heavy use of material from elsewhere, please say where it came from. -No Spam posting - meaning repeatedly posting the same content, making multiple threads, or repeatedly advertising a website/service -Refrain from posting new threads when an existing thread covers the same topic. -No Racism or other forms of discrimination -No posts where the first post simply states: Fact Wum Articles A WUM article is any article aimed at provoking a reaction from other users of the forum. Any article containing attacks on an individual, whether a figure in the sport or forum member, is a WUM article. To avoid this, when stating something controversial, please make sure you use some sort of reasoning and logic, ideally with some facts. On breaking the rules: 5 breaches of the rules above, or a lesser number of serious breaches (such as racism) and you will receive a warning from a moderator 2 Warnings make a 24hr ban A third warning will result in a permanent ban from the forum After a month, any breaches will be removed from your record, you will go back to the first level of the process outlined above (except in the case of a permanent ban). However, saying all this, the moderators are not going to be looking for any excuse to ban you, so if you want to post something, do! Articles don't need to be perfect! Thoughts everyone? DHCanary EDIT: I've just seen cyprussydsafc's post in the other thread, do people now deem this unnecessary? If so can we have it deleted!
I dont think you need house rules but ITS YOUR BOARD not mine. If the majority want them then you have them. Agree between you, give me the names of the two mods, WHO AGREE TO DO IT and I will sort it
I think having the rules just as a guideline for new users is a good idea. Personally I think banning people is a bit harsh. If someone generally makes a decent contribution but occasionally gets a bit carried away I think that's acceptable. The only time I'd suggest banning someone is if they only use the forum to provoke other users.
Looks decent. Does anybody mind me doing a (non wum) thread about Mclaren in 07 and show my opinions? If so I may not do it
If it's objective Fred go for it. If it's just to attack Ron and Hamilton then it may be considered a wum article. Give it a go and the McLaren fans will let you know soon enough. I like the house rule suggestions. The punishments are a bit rigid, you have to allow for moderator error. I think 5 initial breaches (removes element of doubt then) before the first warning, 3 more for 24 hour ban and 2 24 hour bans before permanent ban.
I wont attack drivers/team principles i'll just state what I actually saw happening in that year unlike mad fan boys (Alonso had underpowered car, Hamilton was favoured, Hamlton thrashed Alonso by miles etc etc) may have to be tomorrow though Got 6th form so bed soon
Basic rules are good in my eyes, then its up to the mods to decide how bad a breach has been made and what is needed to be done. Its already been mentioned but if your good for a few days the breaches will be removed from your name (out of the naughty book )
I was wondering about how objective you could be at 14/15 then I realised I was a couple of years younger when i started watching F1 - the year you were born! <arrrrgghhhh>
Ok, I think I've updated them to reflect opinions. Fred, the point of this isn't to make you scared to create new articles, if you genuinely have a point to make, I wouldn't be worried about it! Its only really to deal with people who are ruining the forum for others. Hopefully most of the time the rules will be irrelevant!
My views have changed since then, wasnt exactly easy getting over it at 14 but now i'm not really bothered. As long as i know Alonso is my favourite i'm not bothered if people think hes crap tbh, he was (in '06) the 7th(?) best of all time apparently according to the F1 magazine
