Ice-T for me, and Body Count's debut album. Lost interest in Rap after that. Dre had his moments, but it always seemed like he rose on the back of other, more talented individuals. It all became a bit too 'Pop' after that with Eminem being the culmination.
Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Action Bronson, Clear Sour Forces, AZ etc etc
I realised from your previous post you had a clue. You have to scratch the surface to hear the decent stuff from the States.
I don't think he's a bad producer I like quite a bit of his work, he's a much better producer than he was/is rapper, but his name carries his reputation as one of the best producers. The Tupac of producers you could say.

Ice Cube and MC Ren wrote most of the rhymes for Dre and Eazy-E in NWA.
Black Hippy is probably the best of the West Coast stuff, but everything I've heard from them this year has been disappointing, especially Control System.
Action Bronson has some good stuff, but he does sound a lot like Ghostface Killah. Hip-hop is in a pretty sorry state right now, but there's still some decent mixtapes coming from the East Coast. Brooklyn is pretty much where it's at right now. West Coast is blah, South has pretty much always sucked except for Outkast a few others.
Brown Bag All-Stars have a new ep coming out September 1. You might like that. I heard some j57 tracks last week that were fantastic.
I like Control System, but each to their own I guess. What's wrong with sounding like Ghostface Killah though? He's probably the best from Wu-Tang (Him or Raekwon) so I can't work out if you're complementing Bronson or not really.
Agree with what you say about Brooklyn as well. Brooklyn and Harlem is where it seems to be happening these days.

There is nothing wrong with sounding like Ghostface Killah. And when you hear them together on Meteor Hammer you can easily tell the two apart, so it's not like Action Bronson is blatantly biting his style. They have vaguely similar voices is all.
It's just for me personally, whenever I hear Action Bronson it reminds of Ghostface Killah. And that makes me really want to hear Wu Tang so I end up switching albums. I don't know if I've ever made it all the way through Dr. Lecter.
