Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer have both signed today, decent signings if they can manage to keep Dyer fit, now they've actually started making signings I wonder if they'll make a more serious approach for Jimmy. They'll be playing seasons shortly, if they are going to make an improved offer, I'd expect it to be fairly soon.

PS - This is a Jimmy thread, masquerading as a DQPR thread. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Jimmy seems happy to stay at the moment and unless QPR offer serious money I can't see him going anywhere soon.

Kieron Dyer has played 17% of Premier League games in the last 6 seasons. Just a little fact for you there.

I think a deal for Jimmy could be dependant on the Taarabt situation. NW will definitely be on the lookout for a creative midfield player should he leave, although he may want JB anyway...

I think we're all getting the feeling now that if a deal is to be done, it's going to have to happen soon <ok>

True, but he managed four appearances during a one month loan at Ipswich and they tried to keep him until the end of the season, but West Ham refused and he did end up making 12 appearances for them as well last season.

He was on £83k a week, he makes Jimmy look cheap.

Jimmy makes Jimmy look cheap, not in a quids per week sense though.

That's a fair chunk of a team's outgoings. He is a fantastic player when fit, England caps don't come by chance, but you have to ask is it a risk worth taking?

I suppose that signing makes it pretty clear they're not afraid to shell out player's salaries, even though Warnock has been blagging on about how players have to fit into the club's wage structure <confused>

There's no way he'll be on that much now, in fact i doubt he's on as much as Jimmy is now.

Anyway, he'll be on a fair whack and i doubt Warnock will want to have 2 big earners with dodgy knees! That might be it for the deal, unless Taraabt goes and they get desperate for a creative midfielder. I can't see anything happening for a while or at least until Taraabt goes (if he does).

I still don't think those signngs will be enough to keep them up. QPR got promoted out of what I think was a pretty weak Championship last season.

All 3 promoted sides will be bottom 3 come May next year.

AGREED. Only if drama queen Taarabt leaves would they consider coming back for Jimmy. Doubnt they shall go for 2 sets of dodgy knees ? Dyer is a massive risk for sure. But they have got Boothroyd for Free.

Have to agree, i think maybe apart from Norwich and wolverhampton/wigan, all 3 promoted teams will go down but ofcourse, that is said quite frequently and the club you least expect always strings a surprise

Norwich have made some very schrewd signings and they have not finished yet. If Swansea get Wayne Routledge they will have 2 fast and tricky wingers. So i shall go for DQPR, Wolvers and Blackburn(based on who is going as they look much weaker than last season).

Swansea to stay up under Brendan Rodgers. If Norwich can survive it will be an absolute miracle - they have signed Championship standard players for a Premier League campaign.

As for QPR, once the inevitable sacking of Neil Warnock comes, they will slide downhill, commendable financial backing will disappear and they'll become an average Championship team again <ok>

Oh, Blackburn will go down as well

    Blackburn never go down.

If Bullard goes on a perm - fine
If he stays and plays - also fine

agree with Allam, no more lending and paying proportions..

on the qpr subject there's a thread on their page dedicated to how the fans think they'll line up next year and quite a few of the posters are including a taraabt/bullard option in their midfield. no negatives about JB and references to well he played against them for ipswich.

Can we just clear up that Bullard and Taarabt play in completely different positions?

If anything, Dyer would be more of a replacement for Taarabt as they are both spontaneous attacking midfielders, Bullard is more the sort who plays deeper (a conventional midfielder) and controls the game at a slower pace than the other two.

Agree with tigercity about the JB situation. Play him unless he goes permanently, and if he does we spend the money elsewhere.

i saw, i think they were just positioning them both as the creativity in midfield but agreed they do offer different solutions to that position.

I think Dyer signing signals the end of their interest in Bullard, Taarabt or no Taarabt.

Dyer is supposedly on a pay as you play deal, and it's only a year long to start with so it's not that big a risk for them.

More of an issue is the 25 man squad situation, they have a lot of players contracted and virtually nobody in their squad that qualifies for the U21s list. Alright the likes of Vine are going to be left out if they sign someone like Bullard, but with Dyer already in the 25 with doubts over his fitness they're effectively playing with a 24 man squad. Add in Buzsaky, Cook, and Mackie who are coming back from long term injuries, Helguson who responds to grass like Superman does to Kryptonite, Derry who's getting on (or does he just look it?) and isn't going to manage every game and they're down to about 21/22 players (Derry and Helguson splitting 1 place between them) available at the moment that they can rely on being good enough and fit enough. Are they likely to reduce themselves further by signing Bullard as well?
