Along with Stevie our best player today, and IMO hes played well since the start of December, his crossing is good off both feet, HES GETTING STUCK IN, he covers the full back well.Hes deservedly playin every week, keep it up Stewie lad Sayin that Id probably still sell him in the summer
Bale, he's no Downing, great finish, took composure to put it where he did, clever finish Auld Bale, taking that free kick for 45 yards, delusionsofgranduremuch
Downing did good. Allen also did well, he's looked better of late but still a squad player at the moment. Although one of his first passes was straight to a Spurs player and had me thinking 'here we go again'.
It was to Sigurdsson in a white shirt, genuinely think he can be forgiven for that, old habits Downing was fantastic today, every time he got the ball with a bit of space it was fantastic to watch him speeding down the wings to the roar of the Kop. Tracked back fantastically to cover for Johnson who was pretty poor and he really got stuck in. I really don't understand why we would sell him, he fits into the system really well and always gives 100% effort. We may well buy somebody to overtake him in the first team but we could do much worse than having him as a useful squad player. I'm really warming to the guy.
Confidence makes all the difference I can hear MFG outside in the bushes, he's wagging his finger saying I told you so He did tbf
Thought this was funny: @JimBoardman: "@Lee36Simmons: @JimBoardman downing finally does what Adam could not, which is remove the word f'ing from before his name @Knox_Harrington"
Now now, you know exactly what I mean fkker dont get cheeky now or else I'll get all medieval on your ass.
I was shouting for Downing to come off, then he scores. Dont think may of our lot played well, the exceptions being Gerrard and Suarez. Allen looks below par, and everyone else seemed below par.
Allan bar one pass played well when he came on. Made a few decent tackles, and kept the ball well at a time when possession was important. Thought Downing played well, not brilliant but did ok. One advantage is he does offer more defensively than most attacking players. Going to give him the benefit of the doubt say he took his goal well, could have easily snatched at it and put it wide. Still needs to learn that going down the line and crossing into the middle or headers isn't going to produce many goals in this team as that's not the way we play. 7/10 for me though.
Only reason Id sell him even though hes playin well is hes 29 in the summer, think its a good time to offload while he still has value, plus hes on 70k a week I believe, we can get better for those wages Certainly wouldnt be too bothered if he stayed as like I say hes playing well
Lets not get carried away with Downing. He looked good today and scored a goal last week. He still goes missing for large periods. I'm all for him improving and earning a right to stay, but he's got a lot of work to do to convince me he's worth keeping. Having said that 2 in 2 now, whilst Torres has 1 in 17 I think?!!
If he continues his form over the next 9 games then keep him. I don't see this as a purple patch, I think he has finally realized what it takes to play for LFC and what we expect of him. It took him a long time, but we have to keep the players inform and build on them. Yeah he'll be 29 in the Summer, but aren't we crying out for experience? I've been very critical of him, but credit where credit is due - when he picks up the ball now he looks a threat, and I don't sigh when I see his name on the team sheet.
Do you see, Do you see please log in to view this image I thought his finish was excellent yesterday, a confidence finish absolutely With some players it makes all the difference, look at Spurs, what confidence has done for them as it has played a huge part of their good form
Its a win-win.. If we keep him, we now have a decent (note, not world beater..) player that is now contributing to the team. If we sell him, his recent form means his valuation will have gone up a tad, to what exactly, I don't know but it'll be more than a bag of crisps and a yorkie bar we would have got for him a few months ago.
Torres was diabolical yesterday, it shouldn't still surprise me. He had a chance to smash it towards goal but he didn't even scuff it, the shot was just incredibly weak and straight at deGea.
I think he was very lucky with the goal though, no way he meant to put it in between Vertonghens legs when there was so much space either side.
Torres the fans are his power, his fuel and at Chelsea the drum is empty. Rafa should just put diesel in his water bottle..
