Having a medical today apparently for a loan deal. I am happy with this and probably about the best we were ever likely to attract given our position (better than Gomis anyway)

This guy looks like he can finish and could be just what we need. I Would rather pay the extra 3 or 4 million for Remy than the reported 7mill fee for Gomis.

Happy with this guy. Let's just forget about Remy, he ain't coming and never was. Please don't take Gomis either, he turned us down before and on current form not worth £7m

Yea 7mil for Gomis is ridiculous. 11.5 million for Remy is also over priced but when you compare both deals. I know which one id be going for.

Remy is overpriced given the game time he has had. However I'd say he isn't overpriced based on the fact he would, for the next few months at least, get the goals to keep us up easily. I reckon Doumbia can fire us to safety anyway.

I'm happy with this. He's pretty good and I think well suited for the prem. I think it's just not worked out with Roma. Bad fit. Sometimes that happens

Berahino, £21 million bid plus substantial add ons. Payment up front. Christ, we are going for it

If these go through there is no way we can moan that Mike hasn't backed McLaren in the market. These are not the type of signings we have become accustomed to. I think Steve must have had a much bigger say in the type of players we are buying.

This happens a lot in the italian leagues. A player doesn't suit the manager, leaves, does really well at another club, then another manager comes in player again fails and moves again and does well. Italians dont make such a big meal over such things. It's normal.

Who cares what or who's money we are spending, just get it put on the table for. A decent striker, left back and cb before the window slams shut.
Yeah, l know the CB is an ask too far, but l tried.

Apparently he is in his car on his way to the ground at the moment - he says he is not going to miss the opportunity to play under Steve.

And if you want a source for that its the same one that indicated that Sissoko was off to Arsenal for 25million quid.

I do love all this stuff about "Newcastle are wasting money" etc coming from fans of other clubs. Who gives a ****, its not our money. I don't care who costs what. If we sign Shelvey, Townsend, Saivet, Berahino, Doumbia and a left back then we have done great business and given ourselves a much better chance of staying up. The worry is of course that we haven't bothered with our achilles heel again - the defence. Particularly as the left back situation now looks tricky. We still need a centre back in my opinion. However not all clubs will fill every hole they have - especially down at the bottom. We have sorted a player to make us tick, a direct pacey winger who knows the league, hopefully one or two goalscorers, we've done pretty well. At least we are having a go.

It's only wasting money if he is a flop. I don't think he would be. Fans of other clubs are just jealous of our new found wealth. Simple as. If we sign Berahino and Doumbia and they together with the others score us the goals to keep us up then they are worth every penny. It takes us to the summer with the chance to strengthen the defence and push on next season. Like you say, it's not our money. I don't care how much someone costs. If they do the job then so be it.
