Douglas fee agreed with Twente

I have mixed feelings here...

The lad just needs to behave himself..

 

We needed a dominant CB who can win everything in the air and cause problems at corners...He seems like a beast.

As for his attitude problem, look at both the wreckless Tiote and petulant Ben Arfa - both seem to have calmed down a bit since joining us, so hopefully Douglas will be the same!

 

If you can get him for 5 million quid then i can only conclude one thing, Twente wants to get rid of the guy. Two years ago this guy was the biggest prospect of Twente and has even been nationalized to get him in the Dutch national team. Van Marwijk didn't select him once, his level has been deteriorating over the past season. And he's been a mental nutcase since the championship in 2010. Good luck with that.

 

So - The Express is reporting that we have done the deal for Douglas for £5m.

I'm not gunna doubt you, I only have a little knowledge of Dutch football, but the same could be said about Ben Arfa. Top world prospect, relegated to the Bench after fights with team mates, managers and a significant dip in form...Rumour has it we signed him for as little as £2m (though I reckon it's closer to 5).

Graham Carr has yet to put a foot wrong, both in terms on quality on the pitch and temperament off it. Hopefully he see's something in him that'll come good after all.

tbf HBA had issues with behaviour that seem to have gone now at NUFC. Perhaps the professional atmosphere (plus tales of Barton no doubt) at the club helps a player to mature and realise what he could miss he is a knacker.

 

fat mike (or one of his shell companies) should just plough £30m in to buy Twente and then use it as a feeder club.... much cheaper methinks...

Still unsure lad and I can think of quite a few others I'd like ahead of him. He's just a very risky option given his obvious disciplinary problems.

 

Think Ben Arfa's and Douglas' off the field issues won't really surface until you stop winning.
