I dont know if anyone has seen this but it looks like we are talking to doug loft of port vale. I'll post the link sorry if im not ment to as ive not tried this before. http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Port...s-Gillingham/story-21119157-detail/story.html
just seen this on http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/Gillingham.php 05 Jun 2014 10:33:43 Doug Loft has now agreed terms with Gillingham and it will be announced in the next 48 hours subject to a medical barmyarmy
I'm not understanding the Captain bit?...why would we give that to an un-established new player in the Gillingham camp. Surely it would be Nelson's armband.
Agreed BRB, Taylor would be foolish to give the captaincy to an unknown. Besides, I've hasn't even signed as yet and there's every chance he won't!
True GmAD. That football rumours site is not worth the paper it would have been written on pre-internet times. The posting just before the "he's signed for gills" one, said he'd turned gills down to stay at vale. One of those two will be right Or possibly a 3rd one - he's turned Gills down and signed with Colchester ...
Very close to a done deal it seems http://www.port-vale.co.uk/news/article/20140610-loft-rejects-new-offer-1627903.aspx
Really good news,Loft is exactly the sort of player we need.He can play in three different positions, and is Captain material.
Still relatively early days I know, but I'm becoming optimistic that we might actually have a better looking squad at the beginning of next season than we did at the beginning of last season. Looks can flatter to deceive, but you've got to hope.
With Lofty replacing the departed mid-fielders, and McGlashen replacing Weston. If Aaron Morris turns out to be half decent across the back line (or DM) then I reckon if we can get one good CB, and one 'decent' striker to complement Keds and Cody we will indeed have a stronger looking line-up than last season. On paper and in our minds that is...
