I'd forgotten that Olsson was banned for the exact same thing as Di Maria http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-with-one-match-ban-for-grabbing-referee.html This is ridiculous. Fortunately we won three in three with him out, but still I think there should be an explanation for this.
It was dealt with in the match so it can't be reviewed is their reasoning. I think it's a pathetic rule that just allows them to cop out of actually making decisions!
To be fair there is at least a bit of an explanation, in that the shirt grabbing last night resulted in Di Maria's second yellow, whereas Olsson had already received his two yellows before he touched the ref, therefore it was an additional infringement on top of what he'd been dismissed for. Still a bit ridiculous as you say as ultimately they did the exact same thing
I can't help feeling that the 'rules' are objective but the ultimate decisions become subjective. That applies to individuals and also to teams - ask Mourinho
If Ibrahamovic's red last night isn't rescinded I'd be gobsmacked, but I bet they don't do anything about Oscar going down like he was shot, or every Chelsea outfield player crowding the ref.
I admit that I only heard this on the radio but then game as a whole was the worst advertisement for football as a whole and both sides should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. And that includes the managers who condoned their actions.
UEFA have said they aren't overturning it, ridiculous. You can see in the clip the ref had the worst possible angle, and without Oscar's reaction I don't think he'd have given it.
Not just Oscar's reaction but if you played the clip forward the whole Chelsea team entered the fray. That was orchestrated by Mourinho, nobody else, shmaeful!
