Giovani dos Santos' agent has claimed the Tottenham midfielder could move to Inter Milan as part of a proposed swap deal for goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Dos Santos has struggled to make an impact on the Spurs first-team since moving to White Hart Lane for £6million in 2008.

He has spent time on loan at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander and looks set to leave the Premier League club this summer.

The Mexico international's agent, Vicente Montes, told calciomercato.com: "We have several options and we need to weigh them all up.

"The truth is that Gio has always wanted to play in La Liga or Serie A so that's what we're aiming for.

"A swap deal with Julio Cesar? Often journalists talk without knowing the truth, but that is not the case here.

"Inter is one of the possibilities, I can't deny that."

Julio Cesar, who has made over 200 appearances for Inter, winning the Champions League in 2010, has two years left to run on his contract with Inter.

Montes added: "Giovani wants the situation resolved as soon as possible and in the next few days we will try to find a solution, but negotiating with Tottenham is not easy.

"I would say it's 50 per cent likely he'll go to Italy, 50 per cent to Spain. There are other Italian clubs that want him and we're evaluating the offers."

I was hoping we'd keep dos santos next season. Despite him being classed as "dead wood" in the past, he's clearly got talent and could easily be our winger backup option.

Seems a shame to be potentially letting him go, when he's in his best form of the last 4 years!

As long as he leaves I couldn't care less how we get rid of him.

An annoying player - he's clearly talented.

Unfortunately he messed up early on under 'arry and went off 'arry's favourites list.

We can hardly complain about his form when all he could ever play was the odd Europa League game last season or the odd 20 mins here and there in the PL.

  6. Can't we swap him for a striker?

i dont think Redknapp's way of dealing with his staff will have done much to unleash the talent this lad clearly has...he has clearly not had a chance.....would be a good option off the bench..then again he did not pull up any trees on any of his loan spells.

A keeper would be nice, but we need strikers more. He can play off a main striker, feeding balls, as well as playing out wide, so given our current issues (unless AVB is plotting something amazing) maybe better getting him intot he first team. He's been great for Mexico, so he can do it for us. New manager, new times, why couldn't that be explained?

Gio has always had the talent, no doubt, the guy kept Ronaldinho out the Barca side for a while (albeit Ronny wasn't at his best) and performed admirably but it just seems he messed about too much earlier on in his Spurs career and was never forgiven. I'd love to see him given a chance, think he still has a future with us if he gets his head down and impresses AVB.

That being said, Cesar is a top, top keeper who'd definitely be welcomed at the Lane by myself :D

  12. Football, like most careers in life, is a people-business.

It's obvious to me that he has pissed-off the wrong person at Spurs and that, for what ever reason, he's not being allowed to re-build the necessary bridges.

It's a shame, because I think that he'll turn out to be a cracking player for someone.

If Dos Santos had a few years left on his contract, then I think Villas-Boas would've kept him and put him in the side.
As he's gone at the end of this season, it looks like he'll be moved on.
We should've either used him in the last campaign or sold him.

And Monster Munch isn't as nice as it used to be. At least I think I used to like it but had a pack last week and it was horrible.

That person has since been sacked by the club.

It's telling in this month's WSC that someone states that, when Harry was Southampton boss, the only players he even spoke to in training were the ones he signed.

    cheese and onion crinkleys!

Back on topic, i think Gio should have been given a chance. He is a talented boy from what i've seen of him in a non-Spurs shirt. With 1 year left on his contract though we don't have much of an option. If we put him in the team and he's great then we'll probably still lose him for free next summer.

Inter were interested in Jenas a couple of years back. Worth a punt, and keep hold of GDS?

Salt and shake, I'm a traditionalist......

Gio clearly has the skill but not the dedication. He needs an incentive. A play as you play contract might bring out the best in him. Unfortunately I think it's too late for him at Spurs.
