This guy beggars belief, its absolutely woeful of him to let Bolo Zenden go, he has shown commitment, an eye for a good pass, steady on the ball, and runs from one end to the other, what more does he want from the guy. Bolo is far better in the team than four of our midfield i could mention, if Bruce had eyes he could see he is good for the team, and what a player to have, even as a squad player, if i were Bruce i would guarantee him 25 starts and a few subs. In fact if he had played more i recon our points tally would be more, and he cost us peanuts, i cannot see next season, where we could get a player of that quality for that price. I love the team with all my heart, but Bruce has me scratching my head in disbelief, today was a nice win and up to tenth, but this is not the guy to take us forward. and will only be capable of managing teams like Blackburn, Wigan, and us if we keep him as we wont progress at a better rate under him.
for all my chastising the man, one more win and we would have been eighth. i know it's been a poor season for a lot of clubs, and maybe a chance like this season won't come around again, but given our injury problems he's at least done what was expected and got us into the top half. thanks to tchoyi, he's managed to get us above the mags as well, part way to redemption after the derby pasting. as far as zenden goes though, if i were bruce i would beg him to stay, and guarantee him a number of starts - he's the best midfielder at our club and bruce is always banging on about his fitness, so why not keep him??
For another day maybe Rog? We'd all have taken 10th, and in a round about, positive, moving to the sun way, i think maybe we have done alright. There's issues, we know, but the gap to Europe is next to nowt now, and surely next season we'll have less injuries and some strikers. Reasons to be cheerful marra.
You have it nailed on there Billy about this chance may not come again, most of the Bruce argument has been said before but this Bolo episode beggars belief, i just can see his reasoning for this decision,
Rog, you are a respected poster on here. But how can you claim to know (a) how may starts next season did Bolo demand. Maybe 25 if fit? Would you guarantee him that many if you were manager? (b) what player may be in SAFC's sights to replace him on the bench? Age 34 and on similar wages? I totally agree that (in hindsight) SB should have played Bolo more often. The guy has a fantastic engine, great technique and experience. But . . just give over with the Brucie bashing, wouldya
In Bruce's defense we need to be looking forward with a 5 year plan, in 5 years Bolo will not be playing at this level, in fact by next season he may be off the pace, Bruce see's him in training we don't. BUT I would have loved him to stay at the club in a player/coach role to bring the young lads through. I can only assume what Bolo wants Bruce cannot guarentee which is why we are in this situation.
We have not signed one player yet but we seem to know that whoever we bring in we can guarantee Bolo games. We dont know what Bolo wanted but we know Bruce was wrong not to give him it. We do know that despite a bad run we finished 10th but we dont seem to want to spend just one night enjoying it. We do know Bruce has said he wants Bolo to stay but we want him to beg. When I say we I mean you coz I am happy tonight.
bad enough with the jet lag mate..............now you've totally blown it for me................thanks
Bruce isnt the man to take us forward? Have you looked at the league table? Along with all the injuries and Bent going Bruce has done magic to get us tenth place and we arnt stuck with someone like Fuller or Piquionne as Bent's replacement. Beggars belief some of the crap people write on here
