Championship clubs considering 'doomsday' solution of group administration to avoid total collapse The reports suggest that the plans could help to avoid financial disaster across the EFL Championship clubs are reportedly discussing a "nuclear" option as they look to navigate the trouble caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The EFL season is currently suspended indefinitely with no guarantees the campaign will eventually resume. This suspension has led to increased tensions over player wages, with calls from several quarters made for footballers to take wage deferrals or pay cuts during the pandemic. It is now being reported by the Daily Mail that the possibly of group administration, if no common ground can be found, has been discussed by owners and chief executives The plans would require agreement from all 24 Championship clubs and an enormous amount of trust from all sides. The report adds that group administration would lead to staff being temporarily let go, and entire playing staff would become free agents. Each owner would then buy the club back and negotiate contracts anew. It is also being reported that EFL chief Rick Parry is aware of the proposal, which has been described by the report as a "doomsday" scenario. Should every club go into administration, it would lead to a complex situation. Under current rules, administration would lead to a 10-point penalty and a transfer embargo. These punishments would have to be waived unless every club agreed to the plan. EFL rules state a change would require 75 per-cent of Championship clubs to agree. It is also claimed that there would also need to be agreements around the poaching of players because if most clubs entered administration, an unscrupulous rival could use the measure to plunder squads for nothing. can never happen for this season.. only if next season is washed out … something like it might transpire …………. this season equates to about each club losing 18 - 20% of its income …..
I can’t see this season ending - unless played over Football Manager remotely by all the managers - or even EA FIFA by an appointed representative from each club!!!!!
If they go into Administration what would happen to the money that we have already paid for next years Season Ticket?
It’s to do with players etc I think. It requires all 24 clubs to be loyal. So for instance Afobe will renegotiate with Stoke not us. Once all clubs enter receivership the debts get wiped out by the owners buying their own clubs. So everyone restarts on blank sheet. I have heard mentioned that this may also be adopted by every country as at the moment every country is going to be in debt but the thing is who are they in debt to? The biggest hurdle we will face is uncertainty and I think we will see many options on the table, but only when the clinicians and statistics say we can come out from under our protective shell. Whether we like it or not this pandemic will affect all of our daily routines for possibly the next year and beyond, and only when it is totally safe to socialize again will the powers behind the game of football be able to reset the clock on the future of the game. On a local Vancouver Island front the idiots who were told to stay home have decided that this is the normal weekend to do repairs on their second homes on the Gulf Islands. They have been spotted in their thousands arriving on the ferries that are supposed to be used primarily for emergency supplies and confrontations have been occurring with local residents about the pressure it could put on their minor league health care facilities. Stay home idiots!!! It is exactly this kind of stupidity and lack of respect for others that could be the cat amongst the pigeons that will allow this monster to grow and thrive.
