It appears to me that we, or should i say our hierarchy have no ambition to maintain our premiership status, never has this been more obvious than the shilly shalling regarding transfers,or to put it a better way dead beat loan deals. Club, bought by a man who has not got a clue what football is all about, but possibly sees its venue as an addition to his financial empire, look around us clubs our size have spent, and are still spending, but what of Fulham, religation some say may be a good option, "Never" there is far to much at stake, which has been mentioned many times in other threads. Before its to late, or is it, ditch Jols failures, even if we have to bring in youth players, because the likes of Bent Riise, Berbatov Rodders are highly paid piss takers .
We're doomed, sir. Doomed! I think two threads named for Dad's Army quotes is probably enough though.
Shouldn't we wait until the transfer window actually closes before complaining about who we have and haven't bought in it?
Valid point captain ,but we all know it takes some time to aquaint and fit in with team members, and in the position we are in, last minute barrel trawling is a luxury we cant afford.
Ros, I'm feeling your pain brother! I had a miserable day yesterday, more optimistic today though. Was pulled through by the 606 gang. Hypothetically speaking of course!
I'd have preferred to have made some signings sooner, but we all know that's not the way it goes. For Christmas Mrs Captain got me a book called 'The Nowhere Men', about football scouts (and very good it was too). One interesting comment in the chapter that featured our own Barry Simmons was that the transfer window is 'a recruitment window, not a scouting window'. In other words, any players that we are in for, even at the last minute, will be ones that they have extensively scouted in advance. For example, none of us had heard a thing about the Pog before he signed and I remember some on here complaining that we'd obviously just taken a punt on an unknown because we'd missed everyone we actually wanted; Simmons says he had spent three years tracking Pog, checking out his personality, character, etc as well as his on-pitch abilities. We may switch from first choice in a position to second, third or whatever, but you can bet that we won't be taking anyone who the club hasn't very carefully watched.
They certainly haven't shown much urgency in solving our problems. I'm not sure if this guy from Olympiakos will be of much good, the striker reported by Sky to be joining us. We'll see.
Why are you all so negative all the time on this board. Look at it positively, we have got two people supposedly having medicals at fulham right now, Mitroglou and Kvist, Holtby is being very strongly linked with us and we just lodged bids for two promising Man United youngsters who Rene obviously rates. We have had high bids (of 4m) rejected for a left back and centre back and i doubt that we will go the rest of the window without trying to sign a new one. Optimism....
Nick, point taken. I think the pareto rule applies. 80% optimism and 20% pessimism. We are Fulham after all. Not everyone is negative, I have been of late. Just needed to let off steam.
All is a strong word, considering the response from Bidley, 2whitestripes & the Captain. My response was for the Dad's Army reference, I don't think we are actually doomed. That said, I was extremely negative after the Swansea game. Hopefully I'll feel much better come 12.01AM on Saturday!
I tend to disagree with this. The guy has a certain level of technique, has speed and scores goal. And one more attribute that a few players lack... Passion and wants potentially to play even higher. Only 25 yo after all. He had just signed a new contract with Olympiakos so for him to drop that and come here means that he is up for the opportunity... The question is how quickly will adopt and can we get rid of Berba?
Maybe a slight over reaction from me, i just didnt really fancy seeing a thread on this board titled 'Doomed'.
Based on the fact he has spent the last 6 seasons playing in the Greek League? He has a great scoring record in the Greek League…. But then Ruiz had a great scoring record in the Dutch League
