So our pre-season has been a shambles...so what, its pre-season, it is used for fitness and to try things out....

MON, people are scared that he has only made one signing thus far in the transfer window...now correct me if i am wrong but MON always did business late on anyway? he always waited till the last minute to get players on deals and things etc (hence i am looking forward to deadline day so much!)

KEEP THE FAITH PEOPLE! In MON we trust!

    And the deadline day is?

How many games will we have played by then, the season starts with Arsenal, not from friggin deadline day, this team is it carries on it's present form could have a lot of catching up to do, if we wait till deadline day, so as you may guess, i'm not buying this rubbish...

And rubbish is what we were the back end of last season, carried that into pre-season, now we have to give teams and unknown advantage of points, so as deadline day could be exciting?

I respect and envy your optimism/faith.

This. The deadline for main signings and building a team should be a few days before the first game of the season, you then have a couple of weeks to tinker and build you squad if you need/want to.

    spot on!!

lets just wait till deadline day, have 1 or 2points on the board come then then our season can start!

our season starts next weekend we need atleast a couple in by then, esp. a striker

I admit, end of the season we were rubbish...However! the players had nothing to play for and whilst I admit that it did disgust me that they weren't playing for the badge/wages they were just simply turning up...

However I think over pre-season MON has continued to look at players and see who features in his plans next year...Such as Blair Adams, John Egan and Louis Laing, all of which have been given playing time and might be ready to make the step up to Prem standard like Hendo and Colback...

MON imo has ideas he wants to put into motion so we shall soon see....

As for deadline transfer day, as i said MON does his business late and I love to see who buys who on that day so will be interesting imo...

Their wages... Sadly it's not a prerequisite in football to have motivation for the money they're paid.

Excited about Egan, MON rates him. Would be great to see that list of players come through next year along with Knott

Doom merchants and the depressed.....this statement always rears it's ugly head whenever we lose or put in a sh**e
    peformance.

It should read more along the lines of showing concern with a capital C, and anxious with a capital A.
Not labeling true SAFC supporters as Doom merchant's it doesn't sit right!!!

We basically haven't improved the squad from last season, yet Ellis want's ambition and a top ten. I think there
are many on here along with those who go week in week out to games who are getting very concerned and anxious.

I'm surprised Adam Reed never gets a mention because he's the best of the lot for me.

The season has not begun, we could have won all of the pre season games, it matters little - just to us supporters, if we had won all pre season friendlies I would have said the same, it counts for nothing.

Indeed if we had done better it may have papered over the cracks - now there are no excuses, the blank canvas of a new season has had the first brushstrokes applied, and the picture painted so far is not very good. But this is just the primer, the real substance will be applied on the coming weeks, lets hope it bold red and white stripes in a brilliant gloss finish, not the jumbled abstract in matt we have seen of late.

But please banish the relegation talk as I have seen from some, surely there is a balance between concern and hysteria, the concern is genuine and shared almost universally(but not all are prepared to wear their hearts on their sleeves), yet talk of relegation without a ball kicked or a player signed is surely hysteria.

Keep Calm and carry on keeping the faith................

    - i always thought that they should be playing out of their skins, for their new manager and particularly for a good chance in his team for his first full season ? - so I don't think they had nothing to play for, far from it.

but pre-season games do have little bearing, we lost 6-1 to Leyton Orient before the promotion season, if anything that result did us good.

I see your point but we have been dire for months now, the last good performance we put in was the 3-3 draw against City.

He's tried. In any ideal situation a manager will get his signings in early, that does not always happen. We've put in bids for players, clubs are clearly reluctant to sell, have a look at other clubs signings, no signings other than Hoilett would have been a target for us, either not good enough or too good.

    We've a week to go before kick-off and I'm 90% sure we'll get a striker in

So far Man United have won two out of their 5 pre-season games, scoring 3 goals, are they gonna have a **** season as well?

Arsenal have won two of of their 5

Chelsea of won 1, drew 1 and lost 3 of their 5. Including a 4-2 defeat to Brighton, will they have a **** season?

It's pre-****ing-season for goodness sakes, it counts for NOTHING.

If he couldn't get them in early wot makes u so confident he will get them in late. think we going to get desperate and spend over the odds for average players I so hope im wrong.
