Don't you just love it when players speak with forked tongue?

I don't know about you but I get very frustrated and even angry when I hear some of the following words of wisdom from players and ex-players who by our reckoning are not performing up to par, so here goes:

"I want Championship football because I'm worth it" when they had it last season but for some reason weren't able to play that way.

"I am thrilled to be at Bristol City because they are a top class team" and after that they do nothing to keep us a top team.

"I am not getting enough games to prove my worth" Perhaps you have no worth!

"I love working under the gaffer" which usually means as long as I get my selfish way otherwise I'll move elsewhere.

Well the season starts for real on Saturday and I wonder how long it will be before the same old tired phrases will start to rear their ugly heads? Perhaps you have some of your own favourites.

And you think arriving at the ground and saying what a load of crap we're going down would be better or would get the players behind him? He would have been an ex manager as soon as he said it.

And keeping your mouth shut when being interviewed after taking the job isn't going to keep you in work either Wize not in a job where you need positive PR.
Plus if the players had played to their best under first DM then S O'D there should have been no need to talk about relegation other clubs seem to think our players are/were championship players Heaton - Burnley, Gerken - Ipswich, Skuse - Ipswich, Anderson - Ipswich, Stead - Huddersfield, Nyatanga - Barnsley, Davies - Blackpool all players who took us down last year, with Championship clubs this year. Plus if you add Albert Adomah who a couple of clubs have tried to sign that makes almost the complete team. So the quality is/was there just for some reason they never showed it personally I think it was down to DM loseing his bottle after a couple of defeats and trying to make a team that he had made into an attacking team defend and kept fiddling with the team. He didn't sign the Centre Back we needed and wouldn't play Carey, result by December I don't think anyone in the team really believed we could avoid relegation, it was noticeable that after S O'D arrived and Stead was available there was an upturn in results for a while then the apathy set in again and that was the end.

So I disagree with you the quality was there it showed in flashes it was the application or the attitude that was lacking what worries me this season is two or three of the biggest slackers are still at the club one of whom had been the City Captain and unless they have been made to radically change their attitude a couple of defeats and they will give up again though this time they could find themselves playing in the U-21's unless or until they get their acts together. Who is going to be Captain this year is another problem I thought it was going to be Kelly but his freak injury has scuppered that idea we need positivity to flow from the captain and it has to be someone who is going to be first on the team sheet week in week out so we are left basically with Flint or perhaps Cunningham for the job and I'm not sure if either are ready for it yet.

Just when it looked as though we had everything sorted fate decided it was time to chuck another spanner in the works Ah well these things that don't kill us make us stronger apparently so we wait to see who the replacement bits of the jigsaw are going to be.

I'm not doubting his quality or questioning his ability, as a matter of fact like most I'm warming towards him , all I'm saying is don't lie to us fans, I'd rather he kept his mouth shut..

Not exactly a boring old cliché but Derek mclueless moaning on talksport after he got sacked saying how he had no funds to buy central defenders

Yeah, because you spent all your funds on strikers you didn't need <grr>

A bit like some fans on here, that was saying at the beginning of last season we had a good young manager a board to be proud of we could be dark horses for play off's?
Think some of us can look closer to home!

I will confess I was a keen supporter of DM and now I will eat my words and it hurts to see where we are. Still doesn't stop the age old epithets appearing from the mouths of babes (players).
