do QPR actually have to pay hughes and his coaches compensation
can we not just hire a porta cabin
stick it down by the west way
and get them to turn up every day...paying them in full until their contractual period is over
of course should THEY wish to leave they lose any future monies owed

if they are paid out and someone is silly enough to employ them do we get some of the compo back
if they are paid out can we put them on gardening leave for the next year and a half

Isn't that a breach of contractual obligations anyway? We hired him to manage the first team.

Unfortunately we do have to pay them.

If we sack them for anything other than gross misconduct then we are liable for the remainder of the contract, although it is unlikely to be a lump sum.

It will probably be written into the contract that if they do get jobs before what would have been the end of their contract at QPR then some reassessment would need to take place.

It is noticable that many of these people take "time out" having been sacked. Well, the can afford to, can't they. Hughes himself stayed out of football for a while "waiting for the right job" to come along. Unfortunately it is not like down the job centre when your benefits are cut if you constantly turn down work!

Performing badly - very badly - is no longer seen as grounds for dismissal. I have no doubt that he worked very hard ... just like SWP ... but just couldn't do it. If he went missing from training all the time or spent most of the time at practice sessions on his phone to the bookies then that would something completely different.

I read over the weekend we're not paying out a lump sum just continuing to pay his weekly wage until he 'decides' to take another job in which case the paymnets would cease. Was reported in the Saturday Telegraph I think?

I work with an ex professional footballer who's family are still in the game (you would know them) and he has always said to me the best job in the world is being an unsuccessful football manager. It's the only job that you can be an absolute failure in and STILL get millions of pounds paid in compensation when you get sacked due to poor results. There are a few out there who have very nice houses that prove the point.
