I realise that unless you are the manager of a team then you dont know how players have trained or what goes on inside the club.

What suprised me about Saturday is how Suarez was shoved straight into a team unit that has been working well together recently and was progressing.

The draw against Man City, win against Man U and good victory over Wolves were followed by the draw with Spurs. The draw was probably fair.

However the team were playing well, Carroll was starting to look like the player Liverpool bought from Newcastle while Kyut/Bellamy were playing well off him.

It seemed a little odd then that Suarez (as good as he is) was thrown straight into the team against Man U. Not only was he thrown straight in but Liverpool were set up to play the same was as the previous 8 games without him. They were playing five in midfield while hitting the ball long to be held up by Carroll which works fine when you have Carroll but doesnt work with Suarez.

It makes me wonder what this does for Carrolls confidence, considering how much he has improved. Look as his first touch on Saturday; over the shoulder brought down, played back well under pressure from (ferdinand?)

The whole thing seemed very odd, coupled with the whole Suarez/Evra debacle that was going to happen and everyone knew it. The selection choice seemed really strange.

At the time I wasn't disappointed, but looking back it was obviously the wrong choice. It seemed more of a statement then anything, I don't think Suarez starting was the worst decision, but dropping Carroll after a good run of games was. When ever Carroll starts to look good he gets dropped, hopefully Kenny will play them both against Brighton and give them both playing time together, especially with the CC final coming up

I have to say I was very surprised that Carroll didn't start. Ditto that Suarez did. I think there is some doubt (photograph) that Suarez didn't initially offer his hand, didn't get a reaction and moved on. I think Evra was very sly there and made the max out of the thing. If he hadn't started, none of that would have happened.
