DJ Campbell has been signed on a 3 month loan and will start against Cardiff tomorrow. Now this is much more like good news! Shame he is only coming in on loan. I never ever want to see Chopra in a Town shirt ever again! <ok>

what happened to your loan moan mate?
Agree that hopefully it will be the end of Chopra but is this just a loan or loan with a move in Jan possibility.

Come on TB it isn't really acceptable to be in this position of having to get more loanees in is it! I never want to see Chopra in a Town shirt again and if the DJ is coming in with perhaps the view to a perm deal then I will be delighted with that. The Richie Wellens one doesn't make any logical sense at all!

DJ Campbell is a class striker at championship level. While he's getting on a bit at 30 he still has a few years left, hopefully we'll get him on a 2 year contract in Jan. Gambling aside this could be the kick up the arse that chops needs as well, as he may not be first choice anymore.

As pleased as I am about this loan signing, a 3 month loan ending at the beginning of the January transfer window is a sham! He'll be like Jimmy; play amazingly well, score goals and lift the clubs spirit, all in hope of a better contract with us or someone else.

Sorry to be so negative, but I would have preferred this loan to have happened at the beginning of the season on a years long deal with a view to a permanent deal. But hey, gotta embrace all good news with open arms with this club! COYB!!

I agree. Thats why I wondered why you were so excited in your initial post. If it is with a long term view then fine but I havent heard that it is.

Hey Warky, i'm betting your thread title will mean nothing to many of our younger posters!! What a song by the way!!
Chops has been missing far too many chances that i think DJ would put away, although i don't like the loan thing it could really suit us at this moment in time, if he does well and we sign him on a perm deal then great but if he flops then i guess nothing lost. Am actually as excited with the guy from Soufend TBH, could be a real coup!!

Fully agree, one half decent signing doesn't change anything. As many of you have said he is only on loan. But hopefully his goal threat should stop us from going down... I wonder how much if his wages we'll be paying as i bet he is on a fair wack!

The trouble is that as fans we always tend to look at the short term trends in results and never the bigger picture! A win of course will be most welcome and a run of wins would be great but lets not forget the pain and sheer hell we have been put through over the past 2 or 3 years! Jewell is not the answer and we can't keep relying on short term fixes to secure the managers job!

He does appear strangely happy today doesnt he? No rant or rave, no mention of shambles or titanics. You won the lottery JWM?

Oh no not another thing we disagree on JWM and Spanish, Morrisey..... really!! Listening to him to me is like paying £30 to go and watch an ITFC match when Keane was here!!!

I have to say this signing has perked me up abit although it is only short term and we'll be back to square one in January, I can't see him staying here. If he does well he'll go to another club in January!!

On the Chopra front, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as this occured before he was at the club and he does appear to have turned the corner, if this had happened in the past year he should be shown the door. But he has been off the boil a few times in his time at Ipswich but I think there is definitely a good player there, the problem IMO is we are playing him upfront as a lone striker and I really do not think there are many strikers less suited to playing that role than him. Which is why I would have preffered to see us sign more of a target man striker than DJ Campbell who is of a similar ilk, he's a good player but not what we specifically needed.

Like I've said before I think we have a decent set of players but we need some players to come in and compliment those that we already have, I'm not sure this has done that. I think Higginbotham, Murphy and N'Daw have but not so sure about the latest lot!!

Not to my taste, I always think his music sounds fairly cheery and then you listen to the lyrics and realise it's far from cheery!! I like depressing stuff but his stuff is a bit sadistic for me, infact it gives me shivers (not in a good way)!!!

I find the Wellens one a bit strange, I dislike it for a few reasons, a) it's a short loan deal b) it appears that he's getting sent here to improve his match fitness c) we have quite a few CM's (2 of which are loans) already

BUT

I think he is a decent player and a good leader, something I think we really have been missing this season. I've been pleased with most of the additions we have made this season we just need players to compliment them and some leadership on the pitch, we've been cryin out for a De Vos or a Magilton in this team to make sure players heads don't drop when things don't go our way!!!

I think “That Joke isn’t funny anymore” would be more appropriate at this moment in time. Paul Jewell could learn a lot by listening to The Smiths.
