If you drop 4 points against a relegation side from winning positions.

there are blips and there are magor blips blue sheep, cardiff are in the latter i feel. your defence is awful though and should not throw away chances when you are winning...not against bottom sides that most are beating anyway.

have to agree dai and sheep.....it was just an average performance, we didnt deserve to win, even if we had hung on for the 2-1 its clear that coventry deserved something from the game. they are a poor side but we let them control the game, most of the football in the second half was in our own half, and by the 75-80 minute mark, even after whitts wonder strike we were playing to close the game out. we invited pressure and you cant say the equaliser wasnt coming... they got a penalty but blazed it over. on the bright side thats 2 games unbeaten, but we really should be beating sides like this if we want top 6.

p/s. why doesnt conway get any game time? see him warming up at half time and he's got trickery and skill, and our midfield was very narrow today with whitts on the left, cowieon the right, so we needed more width. it was left to mcnaughton to provide that largely...

Again, the fact that we were 2-1 ahead goes down to heart and effort. Unfortunately we need more class (why no Conway) to win these matches and over the run in I think this will cost us.

Although it's very frustrating it might be a good thing that we don't get to the play-offs. I think we probably need another season in this division.

Apart from a short spell in the first half, once again we were truely awful, no ideas, no width, no pace, and we just dont get in the box. That is tactics and Malky Turgid Mackay has none. The owners were there last night to show their support, however i suspect there was an ulterior reason for them being there, i would hazard a guess that the price fix ST holders havent been renewing their ST's as expected, i hope i am wrong but i dont think so. With the dross on offer at the moment why would people part with their hard earned cash. The blame has to lie firmly at the managers desk. Personally i didnt think he was the right man for the job, i will continue my support as i have done for the past 40 odd years, but like i have said before, i have to go back to the 80's to think of a team worse than the one we have now. I think some hard business decisions will have to be made otherwise if we continue playing as we have been for most of this season, next season could see us for the drop.

Yes, we are all down.........again. A game where we dominated the first half and should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. WTF was Joe doing blocking McNuggs' goalbound shot? I was already thinking of getting my "I saw McNuugs score!!!" t-shirt printed.

Cov changed their tactics and attacked from the back second half hence us going with 2 up front which turned the game back in our favour.

With Platt on as sub it was inevitable they would pump in high balls and we defended enough until that last minute. Just seen it on tv and, as I thought last night, surely Marshall should have saved that. It appeared to go through his hands.

However, Malky always said it was a 2 to 3 year project and we are not a year in yet. Next year is when he will earn his corn and it will be interesting to see the quality of player he can attract in the summer and how much he is given to spend.

I would prefer us not to make the playoffs this year so we can avoid the heartache of the last 2 seasons. We are simply not good enough to go up and the playoff lottery will do us no good. Finush the season at Palace and then Malky has a full 3 months to put in place the squad to take us forward next season.

Come on fellas let's look at the positives from last night:

    1. Uhhmm?

    2. Oh yeah uh no.

    3. McPhail was tremendous and it all fell apart when he left the field.

Jonesy was often condemned for his half time team talk so what the **** is happening at half time for our team to come out like that.

I'm afraid it all sounds very familiar. Flying start, exceeding expectations, then it all gets a bit comfortable and results tail off. 2 years running with us. Has he started using the young/inexperienced side card yet? Or the disappointing refereeing decisions? Or the 'the other side are a physical, experienced team' one? You have a serial bottler for a gaffer methinks.

BTW Dyche has outperformed Malky in terms of their first 38 games in charge of Watford - and Malky had Danny Graham, Don Cowie, Marvin Sordell, Henri Lansbury, Tom Cleverly and Andrew Taylor at his disposal. Flatters to decieve is the appropriate term I think.

Mcphail was great for the first half till he obviously tired.

Kev looks back to his old form.

Earnie and Rudy looked like they might do some good off the bench in future matches.

That's the end of the good news for me. Tactically, a week ago Koren played in front of our back 4 and in behind our midfield. No one did anything about it, he ran the game and Hull beat us easily. Cov must have watched the dvd, they stuck Mcsheffrey in the same gap and once again we totally failed to get hold of him, he ran the show for that 15 minute period when Cov battered us start of the second half. If the opposition play someone in the gap a midfield has to drop in there to pick him up and fill the space. Our centre halves are being made to look poor (which they aren't) due to a lack of cover in front.

Lawrence is not a centre midfielder and Conway would improve us no end compared to what he's achieving.

IF, and it's a massive if, we make the playoffs surely none of us would expect promotion, the pressure would be totally off compared to the last couple of seasons imo. If we scrape in we'd be massive underdogs.

I doubt Mackay is the right man for the job. No way, I think what he's done is nothing short of miraculous :) I think GLAM is right another season in this division is probably for the best.

i hate this division, i want to be promoted asap!

the midfield is crying out for width and conway doesnt even get on! also, anyone better placed to see the coventry goal in injury time? i thought marshall could have parried it wide, he palmed it into the net again <doh>

The biggest thing Malky & the boys have going for them is there are a more than a few clubs that don't deserve to be in the top 8 . Who knows what the next few seasons bring for the Bluebirds . A point out of playoffs with under 10 games to play & 2 points from fourth . Rest assured that the team & manager will push on , chances like this may dry up in the future so good luck to them .

So why does MM persist in playing LL in the centre of the park? <steam>

The most positive comments I heard about him was when he moved to the right on Sunday. Apart from that it's always been 'he looks out of place'! <grr>
