I have a strange feeling that we are going to get maximum points from the rest of our games in December, but only if we beat Rotherham next weekend. Just think what 12 points would do for our confidence going in to the January transfer window, and surely any player that wants to stick around Ashton Gate for the foreseeable future has to step up their game beyond the current level. This may prove to be the incentive we have all been looking for and if SC proves his worth to the supporters who knows what might happen. Think I put us down for a draw on the weekend but might change my forecast to back up my confidence, how about you? Would be nice to hear some major sound coming from the terraces on Saturday to welcome the new man and a win would fit the bill quite nicely thank-you very much.
Mike you must have been on the Christmas Spirit all weekend. Cynics like you and pessimists like me do have the odd spells of insanity during our lives. It is treatable! Lie down for 23 hours each day in a darkened room and one will soon be restored to normality. Seriously, I found City's performance at Tamworth very frustrating at times with silly mistakes giving them chances to bother us. But after the game, I reflected on how well we played for most of the game Like you, Mike, I feel more confident about our immediate future now than I did a couple of weeks ago after Sheffield United. Misplaced optimism? I hope not.
I also feel more confident than I ever did under Mr Glum Had we taken more of our chances (and/or at least hit the target more often) at Tamworth we would have been more convincing winners against frankly poor opposition. We need to be much more ruthless and agile against Rotherham Up The City
I didn't see anything in the Tamworth game to justify this sudden upturn in optimism, The fact we still continue to fail to take good chances, also the midfield looked weakened with Elliot to me. more willing midfields will expose our lack of mobility in there i'm sure of it. Must just be the manager doesn't sound like an undertaker who's lost his winning lottery ticket..
I considered that there were some subtle differences. When we were under pressure at the back, we played safety first long clearances to minimise risk of giving it away in dangerous places. Yet when, we had the opportunity to knock it around aimlessly at the back, we instead moved it wide and forward to midfield in a constructive way. Not pass, pass sideways and then hoof it. It looked more joined up. This coming Saturday will be a bigger test though.
We all know that winning the manager of the month is very often a death knell. Getting a vote of confidence from the board when things are very bad is the final blow. Don't want to see any of the above this season, especially the second one. I will just settle for 10th place.
