A very important game, we must not lose as Doncaster are fighting for a play-off place. Such is the importance I reckon we'll get about 600 venturing up. Me included.

It's a curious thing, this great away support Charlton have enjoyed this season. Some pro-RD fans claim that in the past the 'toxic' atmosphere at the Valley distracted the players and made it harder for them to win games. This season the atmos at the Valley has been good, if patchy and quiet sometimes. And our home form is pretty decent. However, despite some really impressive away attendances by Charlton fans, who make a hell of a noise for the whole 90 minutes as far as I can gather, Charlton have won only 6 of their 16 away league games this season so far. This casts doubt in my opinion on whether the volume of support or the fervour of it has any effect at all on the performance of the team and the result. Indeed if memory serves, many of the most noisy and toxic protest events at the Valley years ago coincided with those rare occasions when Charlton actually won the game.
The atmosphere at the aways is far better than at the homes. I’ve done the trips to Sunderland, Southend, Luton, Accrington, Shrewsbury and Peterborough so far this term and its been rocking. Numbers are up - we took 1500 to Southend and 2600 to Peterborough and sold out Luton. A far younger crowd follows the team away, even at far flung places like Sunderland this season the atmosphere in the away end was excellent. Allez allez allez I will be at Donny.
By the way, I as not trying to discourage the away support with my earlier post, I think the traveling Charlton fans have been magnificent this season. I've never subscribed to the view that players are such snowflakes that they lose their bottle when they hear a crowd protesting - especially when they know they are not the target. However, players in poor form and useless managers who are in fear of their jobs will clutch at any straw to deflect responsibility from their own failings, and blaming the 'negativity' from fans was a very easy cop-out - not to mention an absolute gift for the apologists who seized upon it and have used it to beat other fans with ever since. I wouldn't mind an anti-protest supporter explaining why our team has only won 6 of 16 away games when Charlton's traveling fans have backed them so superbly this season and will rightly continue to do so. I'm not saying that our fantastic away support should be dependent on good performances and results, but lack of support cannot be blamed as a factor in Charlton's bang-average away form this season. Some of our players need to look to themselves and wonder why (for instance) the team is managing only one shot on target against Fleetwood Town.
Maybe pubs should do a 'kids for a quid' promotion to boost future patronage. On certain days any under 16 accompanied by a parent/guardian can have a soft drink for £1 More youngsters in pubs will mean more future pub drinkers (when they grow up). There you go - I just saved the UK public house industry in one go. There'll be no charge
This is a very good idea. Unfortunately there are two reasons why Mr van Gerwen would not take up this offer. 1/He's too tight 2/He's anti social
He will be paralytic by then. Why does he bother to drink before matches when he has a bladder the size of a thimble, and spends 80% of the game in the khazi?
