Does anyone else think one-month loan deals like these are a bit pointless? It's four games, or even three, depending on when you arrive. Before the guy has even begun to settle in, he'll be off again.

Don't see a point in it really. Only a month is pointless, he wont even start every single one..

So they're babysitting him technically..Tranmere haven't got much in the way of money, but they could keep him for longer than that surely?

Agree it is pointless. Especially as Donaldson isn't likely to get a first team game with us anytime soon.

Hope it benefits him, but i'm not convinced.

If they get to play competitive games it will help them grow more than playing in the reserves. It would make sense for the loan to be longer though.

It's a good experience for some of the young lads, and if they do well they may get it extended just like Tavernier has at Carlisle.

Yep, there's every chance it'll be extended. Many clubs in League 1 and 2 can't take the financial risk of committing to a long term loan, so this is often the only way these things can happen.

Meh.. it might just be a INITIAL one-month loan which could extend? Hopefully Donaldson gets a run of games, gains confidence and fitness and hopefully makes some impact.

How do you know? Usually they'd pay a percentage of his wages I'd presume.
