says that he received threats of violence against him and his family on twitter leading up to transfer deadline day, and if he thinks that supporters are not with him he may just walk away.. What kind of morons are doing this?
Think there needs to be a song thought of for him, unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the fruitcakes on Twitter but it'd be good if he knew that the fans who go to the games appreciate his work. I'd be ****ing livid if he walked away because of something our own fans said.
Given what our club has gone through...these guys come in and pretty much rescue our club from complete meltdown. We could have easily gone down the route of Coventry and Portsmouth. We now have a board who actually know what they are doing and brought back a feel good factor among 99% of fans after a few short months we have a handful of complete and utter morons threatening the owner. I despair....Hard to fathom some of our supports.
Not necessarily, in fact I've got no idea, but Donald thinks so. I wouldn't be that surprised if it was, every club has its share.
threats would be down to mags if the police tracked them down, a few of our fans can be thick, but threats can't see it myself
I'd get the police to look into all of the threats made to himself and his family and have them dealt with by the authorities, this sort of crap has to stop. It's a cowardly and terrible thing to endure, and SD deserves none of this. The man is piecing our club back together and he's subject to this, how such short memories they have (if it is indeed our own fans).
Although we've got a few dicks who are guilty of this, many of these people have little to no followers who are on recent accounts indicating some of these people are not who they say they are. You can bet they're using a proxy too so they are untraceable. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
I had a pint with him after the match in Quinn’s bar. He is a cracking bloke who is so open and honest that it is wonderful that he’s involved with our club, let alone owns it. He was telling me about how he got the Grigg deal over the line Why on earth someone would raise issue with him is very strange indeed. To then bring his family into it is utterly disgusting
Hopefully he knows that blokes like you are the real supporters and the people threatening him and his family over the internet are just worthless pricks who don't speak for the minority let alone the majority. I don't believe he'd desert the club unless there was a real and specific threat and I don't think that would ever happen because the people doing it are powerless arseholes who are just chatting **** on the internet. Fans are always whinging about their club owners but they never do anything about it and I'm sure that Donald knows that even if he does feel unappreciated.
I've listened to most of the Roker Rapport podcast now, and you can tell that things have got to him. He's talking about "not outstaying his welcome" and when the time is right to hand the Club over to someone else. I bet the people who were giving him abuse don't even go to the matches. He says that most of them have apologised now, but that is based on the fact that he bought Grigg. So will these people think its fair game to resume the abuse in the summer if transfers are not moving at the pace they require? W@nkers
I started the podcast on the way to work this morning and he's incredibly open and honest. I haven't got to the bit this thread is on about however it does kinda come with the territory of opening himself up by being on Twitter. I'm not saying it's right at all, it's horrible, but he does run the risk of it happening.
In a way him being on Twitter, initially, was like a breath of fresh air, still is to a degree, but this was always going to happen. Football is about passion, it’s sonething that runs deep in the lives of many of us in the North East, and for some folk it’s almost their only escape. SAFC isn’t Eastleigh. The new owners have done a fantastic job of bringing the place back to life, of turning the club around and making a start on the clubs recovery, but there’s always going to be an element in such a big, proud and well supported club who will show their ‘support’ in the wrong way. Transfer windows when the side have been labouring can get very stressful, I know I had a rough day on deadline day, and in the end for no reason as we did magnificent business, but, and I will never condone threats against a fella trying to do nothing but good for the club, was the club the only ray of light in my life I could easily go overboard. I’d suggest the podcasts are fantastic, open and give great insight to the work they are doing, but maybe the instant and open nature of Twitter is too much. Was great that we all got to know him but it’s beyond what’s required, the fella doesn’t have to justify every decision, reply to every critic, as we can also a really fantastic job is being done. The more he responds to, the more emotionally involved he will end up, they were open about additional investment being required as we move forward, and to their eternal credit they still found what we needed and more for Jack in the window. I’d say to Stu and Charlie, we love what you’re doing for the club after years of neglect, but we simply don’t need you to be that visible on Twitter and leave yourself open to that, sadly it’s the world we live in, every idiot now thinks they have a voice. For us to let them know at every home game how much we value and appreciate what they are doing, some dickheads on Twitter will sharp be forgotten.
