According to the Sun, yes I know a mystery Malaysian businessman has had an offer turned down by Stewie as he wants to buy the club in installments. Sorry but don't know how to copy the story onto here but it's mentioned on the BBC football gossip site. Seems our owner is up for a deal of he can find the right one.
Stewie said it was b*llocks last week and that he has never spoken to any Malaysian businessman. I think the current owners would be open to investment but will this depend on promotion and Sartori's position in Uraguay?
Business is business at the end of the day. If he gets the right offer I've no doubt he'll sell eventually. Whether he remains part of the club as part of a deal is another question.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has turned down an offer for the club by mystery Malaysian bidder But the approach has been snubbed because of the number of instalments in the package. The Malaysians are willing to pay a guaranteed £45m with a further £25m if Sunderland make it to the Premier League. However, the up-front money is only £20m and the rest of the cash would be paid over the next five years at the rate of around £5m a season. Donald, 44, is also talking to other parties and wants the guaranteed cash to be paid quicker in case another project comes up — such as his old love Oxford United. The Stadium of Light chief has just over 70 per cent of the club and could make a fortune for a season’s work — and the Wearsiders have not yet clinched promotion. Sunderland are in talks to sell the naming rights of the Stadium of Light - and are using their Netflix documentary to attract would-be sponsors. SunSport understands the Black Cats have been speaking to an energy company and a betting firm about a possible money-spinning deal. Donald revealed earlier this season that he was open to the idea of renaming their ground to create a new revenue stream.
Inevitably he will need to sell some or all at some point, and he will be a very wealthy man when he does. There’s likely a queue around the block now, with the debt removed, the club buoyant, and as mentioned the Netflix thing. Was a worldwide hit and the second series will only add to the interest, especially if we go up. I’d love to think they’d stay involved as I really don’t know that anyone on earth could have done a better job of the stabilising, the reality is that likely isn’t an option. You know, and it’s selling souls to the devil in a way, the owners of PSG are looking to buy a club in England. They should be contacting them, I for one wouldn’t object to going down the City route. Like City, the PSG owners have built a club for the future with care for the community and created a huge amount of jobs and local business on the way. Stew and Charlie should be peacocking in front of these guys, they are supposedly looking at QPR and Villa!
