Actually, I would say that is one of the greatest sporting achievements in British history. To play 10 matches including the qualifying rounds without even dropping a set at 18 years old. Fantastic!

Looks like she is a level headed girl with heaps of talent and with the right management can go a long way. Well done Emma a fantastic win and what an achievement to go all the way through qualifying and through the tournament without dropping a set.

Excellent win by the young lady. Thought she might nave crumbled after not winning from being 40-0 up and then to lose her own service game, but dug in.

    Very bright talent

I didn't like the way Fernandez was bitching about the medical stoppage though - changed my opinion of her during that. She seems the typical spoiled tennis brat.

Fernandez surely knows the rules? They state that the Umpire has to stop the game if a player is bleeding and have a medical time out <cheers>

I knew nothing about Miss Raducanu before the final, but I've just looked her up :
Romanian father, Chinese mother, born in Toronto Canada moved to UK at 2 years old. What exactly makes her British ?

My wife has a Chinese father and a Filipina mother, has been in the country longer than Raducanu but the majority of people still see her as a foreigner. (Where are you 'really' from?)

Is there any difference ? Is it possibly because Raducanu was a baby when she moved here, so all her formative years have been in the UK - British education etc ?

Or is there simply no difference ?

I see this thing quite often so wondering about it really.

She is a British citizen and has clearly made the UK her home so in my view can be classed as British. As you say she came to the UK when she was 2 so clearly a difference to someone like Greg Rusedski who decided at the age of 22 to take up British citizenship for 'lifestyle reasons'
