I doubt we´d be where we are now If Lambert had not passed our way, So bear that in mind when you crow At him and how his Villa play, And had he left amicably I´m sure none here would have begrudged, Him going, it´s what we fans see So often, if they feel a nudge, And not knowing the ins and outs Surrounding his sudden departure, It´s left many of us with doubts Regarding the gentleman´s character, But no-one can question the fact That he was the man for the job, And when he was called on to act He did so and made us all throb, And just as McNally again Does seem to have found the right man, To direct our great group of men So Lambert fitted in the plan, I´m not one to dwell on the past But fair is fair, he did his bit, Far more than many could have asked During his three year long sit, So although he will feel the heat Tomorrow when he treads the turf, From fans angry he left his seat We´ve one better now, in his berth, And the very best way we can show Just how much his leaving has meant, Is to make it eleven in a row Unbeaten, and leave their Cup dent.
