does anyone think that City have rarely had a central midfielder who influences and bosses games, where everything goes through him. Please dont say JB as i am talking about players who have played at least a full season. Deano comes into that bracket but I honestly cannot remember any others and thats since 1968.Maybe Ken Knighton at a push or Steve Melton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We seem to be suffering from this again although i do think that given time NP will address this.Corry Evans may be that man.
DEANO?? Correct me if I am wrong but I always thought he was a striker. Yes I know he tried his hand at goalkeeper as well

I just read the "everything goes through him" bit and these two came to mind in recent memory. Of course a fit JB would be this midfielder though
Boateng was a dominating midfielder ... also very adept at getting sent off and giving away freekicks on the edge of the box
Deano was a damn fine midfielder. Playing alongside Greg Abbott when Dolan used his 5-2-3 formation (with the likes of Atkinson, Jenkinson & Hunter as the front 3, maybe Fettis in goal, Dewhurst & Hobson as centre-backs with Warren sweeping behind - although I can't remember who'd have been full-backs - Norton & Graham perhaps?). It was only the pre-season injuries to Chris Hargreaves & Steve Moran that made Dolan push for the forward line of Linton Brown (who'd been signed the mid way the season before with the "Put a Tiger in your team" money and had been utterly useless during that initial spell, but had a fantastic spell after then) and Dean Windass
I swear for the first half of what I think must've been the 2001/02 season, Julian Johnsson seemed to play the roles of about 6 varying types of central midfielder
