Apparently the Dolman roof truss is planned to be lifted in to place at some point today, I am in Ashton everyday so I'm going to go take a look later. The conversion of the Dolman stand is the most interesting part of the stadium rebuild for me, I hope its a full job and not a cheap makeover. Also the first seats are beginning to go in the south stand and it looks like they will be bigger with lots more room to pass in each row. I will be very impressed if this is completely finished and ready for FULL use by August I must admit.
I would imagine they would reclad over it all... I have a couple of mates who have signboards on the Dolman roof, they may end up in there, albeit out of site, for 100 years or more..
Me am, A block up the top, now changed my tickets to a bit higher up, that is next to Red Robin I believe.
I'm no structural engineer but I'm still not sure how they are supporting the main roof truss at the South Stand end as the vertical truss support is being removed? The cantilever must be bloody good at that end! Thanks for posting the pictures!
Yes, going to need a cap with a massive visor when the Williams gets knocked down, the sun is going to be in our faces more.
They have built and attached two cantilever supports at each end of the Dolman. its all clever stuff! please log in to view this image
