What is really going on behind the scenes here? I am not trying to glamorise anything I just really struggle to understand what is going on. So The Allams come in, and take on a relatively good Championship side in a lot of debt. They state there reasoning for doing so is there love of the city, they want to give something back. There are two problems. Wage Bill is too high Large amount of debt In order to resolve these problems they pay off the outstanding debt in full and release or sell (or sack) the remaining high earners in order to realign the wage budget to a more appropriate figure. Why? what was the point? Why didn't they just let us go into administration and probably get the club for half of what they paid out to clear out the debt. If they wanted to have a crack at Premier League football they should have known they would have to reinvest in the squad if they wanted to go up. They then fall back on promises around spending and the then manager Nigel Pearson walks out on the club under suspicious circumstances. Who do we appoint to be manager after this? (the cheapest option possible that's who). So now what are we being told? "We need to trade to bring players in". To me that just means we have to Sell Rosenior, Korren, Chester. And the point of all this is that is we sell them 3 we are in a lot of trouble next season, it doesn't matter if Alex Ferguson is in charge that squad is going to struggle to score enough goals to keep us up let alone make the play-offs. You aren't going to get the goals into the squad with little or no investment and if we sell our defence to achieve that then any idiot can work out the problem with that. As a side note Dawson is past it. I am worried. 51 Million invested and we look like we could be up for a relegation battle next year if you are taking any notice of the noise coming out of the club. Can someone explain the logic because I can't get my head around it.
Basically the Allams have realised it takes a lot of investment to compete in this league. Investment they don't want to put in. Plus the land around the KC is prime housing land. They are just trying to turn a profit on the cheap. They are businessmen after all. To be honest I wouldn't mind if they sold to a wealthier owner. That way we may get the investment needed to compete in this league.
Why though! if they had come here 5 years ago and offered to buy the club and invest 20 Million quid in the playing squad it would have cost them a lot less and been a lot easier to get promoted. Just don't understand why they basically wasted 50 million quid of their money, they should have walked away.
Anlaby Road is prime building land? If all they wanted was some land to build houses on round Anlaby Road, them I'm sure the council would oblige, after all, they gave away the land that's being developed there at the moment. Your post is complete bollocks, you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
It wont be a waste of 50 million quid. IF they can get the land around the ground, sell the club off for a profit all with little real investment then they will likely turn a tidy profit of several million quid.
How dare the Allam's decided that £50m was enough to spend in one year, they should have committed to at least another £10m in January, why on earth should they expected to keep hold of any of their own money, they should be spending every penny on footballers, the cheapskates bastards. Administration wasn't an option, we had no assets, it was either find a buyer, or close the club.
i honestly think (although I have no evidence of it) that the players were told that even if you get into the play-offs there will be NO bonus. Hence, we have not won a game since..I don't usually take any notice of what Burnsy says but if we have to sell players to buy players then that is ringing alarm bells. So long Robbie Koren, Chester, Rosenior and Stewart, we'll replace them with League 1 quality hoofers and struggle like hell next year.
You have totally misunderstood my post (bretman), I was not trying to be sarcastic I just don't think it makes a lot of sense. I can't believe that the only option we had was to pay off the debt in one go.
will you two grow the **** up and leave your squabbling for somewhere else because none of us give a ****.
Couldn't agree more OLM. I know this'll sound soppy but as long as Hull City are around I couldn't give a toss what league we're in!! BUT my head tells me £10million IS needed in the summer and if the Allam's do not realise this, we could actually be in trouble next year. There is no squad depth whatsoever and we have no Plan B! Relying on "home grown talent" isn't going to work because they're in over their head in this league IMO. BUT who knows; could be some good frees in the summer again? We do need some.
£10m is a ridiculous figure to quote. We never spent that much in one window when we were spending silly money in the PL. I'd be delighted if we spent anywhere near £2m on fees and kept our better players.
panic! panic! panic! the season is over. not a problem, there'll be another one along any time. the manager will have the players for a summer and bring in some new players. they'll go out better and wiser next season. relegation won't happen. play-offs or promotion might. don't panic, mr mainwaring.
When the Allams came in and bailed out the club they openly stated that they hoped for additional investment from other sources within the city. There was talk of maybe one investor coming in with 5 mill, but nothing transpired. Basically no one else who had any money within the city gave a damn about the club. I believe this came as a shock to them and they realised they were on there own. They must have then planned for the club to become 100 pcent self financing, why should they continue to plough in funds when no one else was willing to do.
What I don't understand is that they invested 50m in the club which as businessmen they want to turn to profit which no one can deny them and they thoroughly deserve it but allegedly denied Barmby the 2m-3m cash for that obviously needed striker when the club was in a great position to push on, it wasn't even a gamble really as that 2m+ would be spare change compared to the riches the premiership would bring. Barmby may have put faith in his side and said he didn't want anyone else but as the weeks progressed from the opening of the window he was increasing wrong and as some people say that goalscorers don't grow on trees I'll answer that, no they don't, they have to be bought at the going rate and yes they are out there if your prepared to pay for one. 50m gladly paid from their pocket but not the little extra on top to virtually guarantee success and extra revenue via promotion, something doesn't add up.
I tend to agree. No finances in the summer will make for a difficult season. They may as well have chucked their 51m down the drain.
As a student, my finances aren't exactly great be fair. I shall half my total to £5million. Money talks nowerdays in getting good footballers and our owners have the money.
As much as I'd like them to give us more dosh, I agree that they cant. Maybe if we get rid of players not playing with us (ie McShane, Ghilas), then they will maybe give us money. Let's wait and see.
£51m offsets quite a bit of tax on Allam Marine's profits. The club should trade by selling players at a profit and this should be a primary aim. We are not at the top of the food chain. Buying a player for £500k and selling for £2m should be what we aim for. Sell 2-3 in a 12 month period and replace with similar purchases is what gets you stability and a likely promotion in time.
