Does success drain the emotion from some clubs? - Chelsea fans.

  1. Why is it that their fans don't seem very emotional or loud when they score? Each time they score, there's maybe a bit of cheering, but most of them don't really look too bothered.

I also watch the video of the 2-2 equalizer. When Steven Taylor scored, a few fans threw their arms around, but most of them didn't even look like they cared that they just conceded a last second equalizer on their last home game of the season??? vs a team they really should be beating 2/3-0, especially when trying to secure 2nd place after a poor mid season. What a recovery they made, but they don't look like they give two ****s!

I saw a canny few of them laughing about and gave a reaction "oh **** they've got an equalizer, oh well no biggy"... <doh> IT'S YOUR ****ING FOOTBALL TEAM THAT'S JUST LOST POINTS!!! YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE CALLED FANS!

It just shows that most clubs, when they gain Champions League status and also when they have alot of success, the glory seekers invade the ground, and all they care about is their constant bragging rights.

Whenever Newcastle score a goal, i'm always out of my seat, screeching like a little girl.

Ofcourse i'll be less emotional about the 5th goal in a 6-0 win or something like that, but generally i can't help but cream my pants whenever we score.

    ----------------------------

On a slightly different topic - My 3 most mental reactions were -

    1. Cheick Tiote vs Arsenal... I only managed to cool off my boner exactly 11 weeks after the game. My cock just wouldn't go down! LOL

    2. Stevey Taylor vs Chelsea. What a moment and what a great point.

    3. Ben Arfa vs Everton. My first premier league away match for ages, and i was expecting a 3-1 hammering from Everton, but just before Half Time, Ben Arfa belted the ball, and i swear to god i was ****ing mental. What a screamer!!!

I hate to say it but our fans have been similar in past home games against teams lower than us or matches that were of little importance, which this one was for Chealsea. For us its getting a result against the second best team in the league, for them its the match after Man U clintched the title.

I think its unfair to say they don't care either just because some fans dont go mental. If I went with me Granda (extreme example I know) I cant see him being as ballistic as myself but it would mean just as much.

I worry for the atmosphere next season when the level 7 singing section is no more...

I think there's a bit of the Arsenal syndrome there, the fans sit there expecting to be entertained at Stamford Bridge. But I also agree that it being post-Man U and the title lost would have had a bad effect on the atmosphere amongst the home fans. Like Stoke, they probably just can't wait for the season to be over. Combine the two and they were never going to be jumping about.

    Good question/article Tash <ok>

At the end of the day, people respond to 2 things, goals and effort. A player sprinting and sliding to keep a ball in. A player putting in a ferocious tackle. Last ditch blocks on the line - We all love to see it and respond accordingly.

I guess part of the reason Chelsea weren't as bothered is due to priorities...For us, a point against Chelsea is a great point and a matter of pride. Small battles matter to us and so we were elated. For Chelsea, the match meant nout, their priority is winning trophies, they don't have one and so a little game against Newcastle doesn't hurt too much to draw. I guess it would be just like a pre-season game, or the last group game in the Champions League when they're already up as Group leaders? Not saying its right, but its understandable.

More expensive and probably not as good a "banter" with the away fans but the players will here us more and so will the microphones.

On another note about the Chelsea match; I was talking to some Chelsea fans after the game and they said our fans were the best they've ever seen. They said they were only season ticket holders for this year but were seated at the opposite corner to us and could still hear us pretty clearly. Did this portray on TV?

I know people aren't as happy as it removes some of the banter between away fans (plus people don't like moving) but I was thinking about this the other day. It might end up being a positive thing, bringing more noise down to pitch level and into the other stands around the ground making it a more hostile atmosphere for away players AND having families up next to the away fans may make them a little less aggressive/loud (although probably not).

Either way, once everyone gets used to their new seats, I think it could end up being a good move! What do you reckon?

  12. not606 finally back!!

Anyway, i agree with some peoples views on our home crowds, but home vs Man Utd and Wolves were pretty good atmospheres. Brum was **** tho!

to be fair our atmosphere was better in the 90's when we had one of the best teams in the country under Kevin Keegan, so no it doesn't drain. Thinks its just the modern day home support is a lot quieter than the modern day away support.

Good Article Tash (better name in my opinion) <ok>

In accordance with your second point, about mental reactions. I have to agree with your three, but would throw in Barton v Villa and Ameobi vs Chelsea (league cup)

You were doing well up until this point. Thread ruined.

Anyway, it's just what happens when you have so much success. We aren't in the position to just expect wins and expect goals, so when it happens, it's great. Chelsea expect all of these things, so when they happen, it's just the norm.

It's what happens with most very big teams.

Tash why do you have to ruin any decent articles you make by writing something about having an erection or 'jizzing' over something and following it up with 'LOL'.

It's irritating, and makes you seem like you have an IQ of 10, meaning people wont take you seriously, like me for example.
