Club report Ferguson's signed a 5 yr deal.

    Is this pre-empting Jose's departure?

Signing an exciting young prospect on a long term deal is now construed as potentially bad news?

    Christ! We are messed up.

Stop the world. I want to get off.

Not necessarily. I think it is just a reflection of the fact that Ferguson has done well he has played for the first team and the club has seen enough to decide to tie him down on a lengthy contract as a potential star of the future.

I don't see Jose's situation changing in the slightest as a result of this.

Given the choice i think Fergie would be better suited to a LW roll rather than LB, given how well he's done when he played in the final few games of the season... all though when he did come on when jose got injured (forgot the game) he also played very well at left back. I think Jose leaving has been on the cards for a while now but theres no reason why a new LB wouldn't be brought in anyway. Fergie has shown he is more than capable of playing in this league so it would make sense to tie him down to a relatively long contract like some of the other players we've signed of late.

No, as Fergie has played LM most of his games this season.

And Tash, Read what Pardew was quoted as saying on Skysports website and it seems not as bad. I want him to stay, but the board can't agree with him, and when a player isn't happy, they play ****e. Example Jose.

Signing Ferguson on a long term contract is one thing. Thinking he's an option as a regular first team player at the moment is something totally different -not yet strong or quick enough. Needs a lot more work putting in

We don't have one young player ready to come into the team on a regular basis. If the likes of Fergie\Ranger\Kadar\Vickic are regulars next year we'll go down.

Need at least 7 players of which 5 must good/top quality to add to what we've got, LB to replace Enrique, 2 strikers, centre back and RB, plus wide right and central midfield. Do that and we won't even have to think about going down.

Loan out most of young uns to (top) Championship clubs. Try and get Forster back to Norwich for a season in Premiership.

What if Forster wants to stay at Norwich if they stay up?
I agree with you on the transfer front, but I think we only really need two strikers, a CB and a LB+cover next season.

no as has been said getting a good young prospect on a long term deal is great news

  18. I just think a 5 year contract for a player that's played a handful of games this season is ridiculous. I think he has potential and looks class, i love the kid, but 5 year contract to a player that still needs to prove himself at this level alot more is stupid, the same as Nile Ranger.

Ashley is only giving long contracts to players he thinks he can sell.

At the same time, they are tied to a contract that keeps them at the club for the long term where they can improve their game and the squad.

If they are generating interest from other clubs then longer term contract would mean a higher sell on value; therefore potentially dissuading clubs from bidding.

  20. Whatever, i just think players should get long contracts for the right reasons rather than how much money they can make the owner.

I just hate how money runs football now.
