Does anyone know how many games Dawson has had a yellow card in this season? He seems to get one every game. A sure sign that he is getting beat on pace and having to drag back his man. He has been a great player for us this year and in the past but I hope we get a left back in the transfer window as it would be great to have a left back as good as Rosenior is on the right. Overall I think if we can get a left back, a strong midfielder (interesting to see if Chester plays this role) and a striker (Mclean tries hard but lacks quality IMO) we can have a great season next year.
He's had 10 this season(in 41 appearances), but there's no ban as we've passed the amnesty date. We definitely need a new left back, has Rosenior got a left footed brother? We obviously need to sort central defence as Hobbs and Gerrard aren't ours. I expect us to bring in a winger and at least one central midfield player, probably Danns(in addition to Evans move). We also need a new big striker, Mclean isn't looking like he's going to cut it at this level. We obviously also need to sort a couple of keepers.
he was decent again last night, against a very dangerous opponent... sometimes taking a booking is a required skill, gained by expereince.. if somebody had taken a booking for the team last night, when gower was waltzing in to shooting range.. we wouldnt have conceded.. its asking a lot for him to play the role he is, with often little width in front of him, covering the full wing, hes not ashley cole and never has been..
He'll eventually need replacing, but I don't think he's finished just yet. I can see him becoming like Ashbee, constantly getting written off only to prove the doubters wrong. I think we've all just been in shock this season that Dawson had a bad run of games, can't think when that's happened in his City career before.
Dawson has [played better in his second spell as captain. In his first spell it seemed like it was a weight around his shoulders. I think the bookings tell it all really, he has struggled against a lot of players this season. He is not a liability but will be in a couple of seasons time. He has been a stawart for us but I think if we are serious about promotion he will definately need to be replaced. As said earlier, a good player to have on the bench.
They should make Roko captain, it might make him step up to the plate a bit more, he could be a bit miffed that he is captain of an international team and not his championship club.
