Simple question. Can he be our first golden boot winner since Shearer in 96-97?

It's a huge ask, but he is sitting pretty on 14 before January, just behind RVP on 16. Here's the current top scorers:

    Van Persie - 16
    Ba - 14
    Aguero - 13
    Rooney - 13
    Dzeko - 10
    Yakubu - 10
    Adebayor - 9
    Sturridge - 9
    Balotelli - 8

I think it's more realistic than it appears. The Man United/City players spread the scoring amongst themselves and dont rely on a particular player, so goals will be distributed better. The likes of Yakubu will fall away as well. Van Persie is the obvious contender; Arsenal create more than us and he is as important to them as Ba is to us, not to mention Ba can apparently miss up to 8 games with the African Cup of Nations should they do well. Either player could easily lose form and these two in particular have had some bad injuries in the past.

The average goals required since the Premier League's inception is 24.04, and the most ever scored was 34 (by Shearer and Cole in the 90s). Realistically it wont happen, but do you think he can keep this sort of form up and worry the likes of RVP?

It's certainly a possibility, being away for the ACoN won't help his cause and let's hope he can avoid injury.

I would say yes if he wasn't going to the ACoN but maybe RVP will get injured and Ba could get then.

If Senegal were to crash out of the ACON early presumably he'd miss fewer games? I wonder what the earliest date he could be back is.

If he stays fit and RVP stays fit then no because of ACoN gives RVP more of a chance. Possible but I think he might come off the boil a bit as the rest of our team gets more depleted and tired so less good at providing.

Cannot see it happening because he has to go to ACoN.

  7. I reckon it will end -

    Van Persie - 30
    Aguero - 24
    Ba - 22
    Rooney - 20
    Adebayor - 18
    Dzeko - 16
    Balotelli - 16
    Sturridge - 15
    Yakubu - 15

Its a possibility, all be it a slim one, but RVP hasnt gone this long without an injury for a while, so he could be due one, especially if arsenal consistently rely on him to put in top performances, Citeh could still score loads of goals so it wouldnt matter if it was spread out between Balotelli/Aguero/Dzeko cause they could still end up with around 20 goals each. Rooney blows hot and cold i think, didnt he just go 8 games without scoring? but when he does he does tend to go on a decent run, but his end of season tally could all depend on how long his run lasts. If RVP gets injured or has a bad run and Senegal dont do well at the ACON which i think is quite possible cause they're not one of the bigger African teams, Ba could be back after 4-5 games and may only be 3-4 goals off the pace and might just nick it at the end.

We were all saying we'd like a 20 goals a season striker and he's going to get more than that, so whatever else happens he's had a great season.

Would love him to go on and get a bagful more of course.

He's already scored more than Carroll managed in the entire 10/11 season and also has more than Shola and Lover managed put together that year. The improvement is staggering.

I couldn't be happier about his production so far, although I don't think he'll top the list unless the non-african playes all suffer some injuries. Regardless, I love how much fun he has playing, how much effort he puts in, and obviously the amount of skill he displays. I'm very slowly making my dad a footie fan, and he can hardly name 10 players in the world, but now after every gameweek in which he can't watch the Newcastle match with me, the first thing he asks is "Did Demba Ba score?!"...that says it all for me.

    My prediction:

    Van Persie - 29
    Aguero - 25
    Ba, Rooney - 23
    Balotelli - 20
