Does anyone feel that grayson is still the manager to take us forward.

Looked lost on the touchline. Stevie Wonder can see we still need some players but grayson says he's happy with the squad WTF.

And what did I say about Brown all summer, that he wasnt a tough tackling midfielder because he CANT tackle, just fouls.

Taken us far as he can.

There still time to sort it out, but not with grayson

Unsure mate. I'm still convinced he can't organise a defence. Considering he was a defender himself, but i have a funny feeling he is too afraid to admit he's got it wrong this summer!

Easier to change a manager than an owner/chairman.

Problem lies within the chairman. You give a manager 4-5 mill to spend in this div and they will go out and strengthen enough to go up. Cardiff are a prime example brought in some good players for less than 3 mill and they defended and attacked as a team against west sham! Cardiff will do well again this year.

i think if you class this season and last season. i could def say even doncaster spent more than us... I.e the billy sharp fee

I think the problem lays deeper than Grayson. That being said changes need to be made & Bates isnt going anywhere fast.

Question is how long do you give Grayson before you decide he's not the man for the job?

I personally echo Wakeys opinon that Bates doesnt trust Grayson with money & I wouldnt be suprised if he let him go around Christmas if we are not flying so someone else gets the funds to either get us into the play offs or out of the relegation scrap.

Either way I hope our team & manager are good enough without having to go down this route, I warned people to not underestimate Southampton. they passed straight through our midfield & thats the blue print to beating us.

    Tricky question as;

    A) who would you like to see in charge
    b) could we attract them
    c) could he do any better with zilch to spend
    d) could he survive under Ken the Dinosaur Bates

When Grayson first came in, way back in 2009, our team was shipping goals. He turned the defence around with the addition of Naylor and Sodje, and then the season after we were promoted with the best defensive record (I think).

That's what I don't understand. He has shown in the past he can make our team hard to beat, and if you think to the defensive performances against Man U, Arsenal etc. it's obvious that the defenders we have could become a strong defence. But if we're honest, since March 2010 when Kisnorbo first got injured, our defence has looked a lot worse, and is now terrible.

That's over a year that Grayson has failed to improve our defence.

Also, in his two full seasons in charge, we've gone through a mid season blip. That almost cost us promotion from League (although it didn't and we still got promoted), dropping 1st place when we were 11 points clear is terrible. It happened last season as well, with all the draws at home (lots from winning positions) and we missed the playoffs.

Add that onto his consistently poor transfers, including some money signings in Bruce, McCormack, Collins, I think that I am starting to question him.

He deserves until Christmas, probably the whole season. I think he's working with his hands tied - Bates gives him no money to spend. I mean really - what manager turns down transfer funds? Also, our low wages continue to outprice us to players who end up going to other Championship clubs. I'm no finance expert but I can see that the club with the biggest fan base, ticket prices and who can waste £7million on some stupid museum and store should be able to afford the wages that other teams can.

If you look at our squad, does anyone actually seriously think it's good enough for promotion? It'd be a tough job for any manager to get them promoted.

Best fans - totally agree, great post.

We are trying to win promotion on a shoestring and it ain't going to work. I'm not saying that just spending money will equal promotion - just look at Boro, Cardiff and Forest - but we can't expect to win the league with a load of cast-offs from other Championship clubs.

I don't think SG is a bad manager but where he is weak is a) the number of hopeless free transfers he's brought in b) the lack of young players he's brought through the ranks and c) the total lack of organisation on the pitch. He does bare responsibility for all three I'm afraid. In my view he's made a mistake making Howson captain as he can't boss the midfield (let alone the team) and has bought badly in O'Brien, Collins, Bruce etc.

But our problems go further than the manager. There are institutional problems (just look at the shambles over Gradel's contract, following the loss of Beckford, Johnson etc on free transfers). There seems to be a complete lack of strategy - where is our plan - are we planning to buy back the stadium at any point? Do we have a plan for getting back in the Premier League? Do we have a plan to bring through new talent. All of these problems come back to Bates. I honestly don't see what he brings to the club.

Getting rid of Simon might placate a few fans but it won't do anything to change the fundamental problems affecting our club.

I had a nightmare last night where we lost 4-2 at home to Doncaster. For real.

I'm really anxious about Leeds :(
