Dodgy decisions. How many times have we heard the ABU brigade this season cry if it wasn't for dodgy refereeing decisions, Utd wouldn't be top. Did anyone else not see Bendtner's handball for the Arsenal equaliser against WBA? Is it me or did he not use his hand (not unlike that other cheater Henry) to keep the ball in play? Any thoughts?
I think most of the bigger clubs tend to get the 50/50 decisions - especially at home - but out of the top 4 teams, I think we suffer most. Especially against Chelsea!
To me it was such an obvious handball but none of the WBA players appealed? Is it me or has the world gone mad?
Didn't see the game, but I've seen at least three or four Gooners admit it was handball. My view on refs is the same as always. Refs make mistakes. They can't see everything and even if they could (with technology) they would still have to make subjective judgements and would still get stick. But overall there is no bias towards or against one team. There's a proven bias towards the home team, which has been shown to be proportional to the size of the crowd. This probably explains why we get decisions at OT, Chelsea get them at SB, Liverpool get them at Anfield etc, but overall it evens out.
I agree Swarbs the refs are only human and will of course make mistakes. There is no massive conspiracy involving referees but try and tell that to the ABU brigade. While technology cannot stop the refs making cock ups it can remedy some problems but my god isn't an overhaul of referees needed and soon.
According to Irvine Welsh, the Masons are to blame for the supposed pro-Rangers bias north of the border By the way, quality signature. It's spreading!
I don't think refs are biased, just not very accurate, inconsistent and a bit weak when faced with angry players and a noisy crowd. KPR's well into his conspiracy theories, isn't he?
Have you tried telling anything to the ABU's recently? My favourite was KPR's "Utd pay off all the refs, but don't mention our dodgy penalty against Sunderland cos that was the linesman not the ref" I'm honestly not sure what can be done to fix the reffing issue. As long as managers are allowed to blame their own team's shortcomings on the ref, and criticise the ref even when they make the right decision, we're gonna struggle to convince top athletes to become refs. And I think it's almost impossible to name a top ref that doesn't make a few errors in a season, which indicates to me that it's impossible to cut the errors out altogether.
I don't see him as a wum only a sad tool who actually believes the tripe he posts. I loved the post he made a while back claiming that Utd introduced cheating into football. He has been asked at least 4 times for proof of this but has failed to deliver each time. I was actually a little impressed with him at first expecting him to start talking about the 1915 British football betting scandal involving Man Utd and Liverpool. Then I remembered Liverpool has 4 players themselves banned from football because of the scandal so he obviously wouldn't bring this up. What a prat.
