I parked parallel to the blue gates in the below attached pic. Now Trafford council want £35 from me (£70 if I don't pay within 2 weeks). Neither the front nor back of my car were anywhere near the double-yellows.

Am I crazy or should I never have got the ticket?

seems like they've turned you over and ****ed you royally. you sure you weren't on the yellows? you know how pedantic them traffic ****ing wardens can be.

would the fine be for parking in front of the gate if it's used?

Dispute it immediately would be my advise.Often when a dubious ticket gets disputed they let it go.I used to park in a similar spot often and always got tickets,I always disputed them and was always let off.

Failing that burn the council building to the ground.

If there wasn't a no parking sign on the gates tell them to **** off.I watched a doc last year about things like this and do you know that if the double yellows are broken (ie. not continuous paint or be cut by roadworks, utilities etc) you don't have to pay. They will push it,but at the end of the day you don't have to pay.

No sign at all. The factory's been derelict for years. This is the problem when you pay commission to parking wardens.

looking at that picture I would say you have a case if you take a picture of the spot and ask them to produce a picture (which they take) to prove you were on the lines, I always advise people to argue the point. They expect you not to

Bad news, when I enlarged the picture, is if those blue railings are a gate and you were blocking access. I would still argue it as it is looks deserted, and you can argue you had knowledge that it doesnt get used

I'll try and chase that documentary up for you it was very good.I begrudge those ****ers every penny. If they were doing it in the right places, fair enough but they are sneaking around looking easy targets like some poor sod that's out trying to earn a bob.

The only thing I would be blocking access to would be unusually large rats. The place is covered in weeds.

ON the same doc it said that a gate without a 'No parking' sign was the same as a fence.

I didnt/couldnt make that out from the picture.

To be honest argue it, put it in writing if you can, and more than likely they will try to save face by saying dont park in front of gates

Last ticket I had, I was at fault. forgot to put the parking pass in. Went in was polite and firm, just said i refuse to pay, you will have to take me to court as i was going to and wasnt given enough time. They were pissy but i didnt care as I didnt have to pay

tbh i think this bit has been changed, to stop people parking in front of peoples drives, but obviously abused by wardens
    Dont know the exact details

these are usually easily over turned. If it was 5 minutes. There is a time limit they have to give you
I would definately argue that one
