Hopefully Mbemba will be completed on Thursday when his application is approved by the FA, but things seems to have gone a bit quiet on the transfer front.
No real speculation or gossip about in comings or for that matter outgoings. To be honest there are a few bodies that it would please me greatly to see moved on, but l can't see anybody being daft enough to buy them!
So, do you think we are done this window? I sincerely hope not as we are still very weak defensively even with the addition of Mbemba.
Also l thought that Aaron's had signed a new five year deal, but again reports say he is still at odds with the club over a new contract, any thoughts or clarification on that also?
If you think we are having a bit of a lull before the storm, who do you reckon will come in and who may go.
It's all a bit last minute again ref the start of the new season, but l do accept that the window is open until September.

I think Aarons could go late in the window if one of the moneybags Prem clubs comes in with a stupid offer. My main concern is that he could be snatched from us for not much, or have his head turned and stay til Jan but not play his best.

The window so far has been pretty encouraging, but I agree we need another starting CB and to shift on some of the awful squad members who contributed to last season. As long as we strengthen the defence (something we've needed for years) and hold onto our quality players I'll be happy. We'll be a work in progress but I think that's to be expected.

I don't think any big players will go, and by that I mean Sissoko. We might lose Colo but to me that won't be a loss if the last two years are anything to go by and Cisse will only go if another striker arrives.

I think we'll sign another striker and then either a wide midfielder or defender. Either way if we don't lose anyone and don't sign anyone else it's a good window because we've added to the squad.

Supposidely we have one of the biggest squads in the Prem, they did an average age of teams on Sportsbible and they state that NUFC have a squad size of 33! (Link Below)

I cant see us realistically bringing anyone in until we are sure we can get rid of players like Vuckic, obertan, gouf, Willo, Ferguson, Bigi, Marv and elliot. I dont think there would be anyone upset to see those 8 go, that would leave us with 25 players, but as the rules state we can have 25 over 21 year olds so there would be room to bring 2-3 players in

We really need another quality CB as we cannot surely go into the new season relying on Taylor and Williamson.
I cannot make up my mind about Colo, perhaps because he is so unpredictable these days. One game he is commanding and vocal, the next he is shockingly poor.
He literally plays like he doesn't know if he is coming or going lol, but l would like to see him stay.
I agree that we are vulnerable regarding Aaron's, we really need to loose this selling club tag and keep our quality youngsters.
I hope for another defensive recruit to ease expectations on Mbemba and give us better options for when Colo gets a bout of Argentinaitis and Taylor is crocked for the season yet again.
Thus far Gini looks like he is going to be awesome, and Mitro appears full of confidence, but l hope he isn't another Balotelli!

I hope Mitriovic is another Balotelli in some ways, deinfinatly in terms of being nuts and throwing tens of grands out his car window! and hopefully ability wise, I just hope he has alot more ambition/work ethic and form and I think he will.

Balotelli on top form is such a good player, but getting the best out of him is like trying to crack a diamond with a nutcracker!

I predict 2 players I've never heard of will be signed within 48 hours of the deadline but that we're basically done

Yep, I think we're done. I don't think it's good enough from the club, as usual, as it's been yet another buy low/sell high approach with the bare minimum done to try and assure PL status next year.

I can't be bothered to rant, but on paper there's some good players who genuinely didn't play last year so in a way I understand. But we still have a policy of purple players, that much is clear, rather than a squad or tactical strategy. Again McClaren has come in not so much with a specific idea, but has admitted to needing to look at what we have and somehow make it work. It's frightening that both Willo and Gouffran will be one injury from the first team yet again, but this is life under Ashley. We might get lucky, play some football and get a full season out of Aarons, Saylor, Cisse, Tiote and the other crocks. It's not doom and gloom, but it's more evolution than revolution, which is pretty disappointing.

I think Mitrovic will still be mental but as a fan of the club will bust a gut to win every ball in ever 50/50. I would also think we will see him get at least one stupid red card for something or other but some of our Red's last season were unbelievable! Willo's was pick of the bunch but so many needless second yellows and then you have the Cisse/Evans incident...

I agree, we are never looked at very favouribly by the FA and always tend to be fined/banned for silly things that other teams get away with.

Also with the Mbemba thing tomorrow, I must admit im not very confident that we will get the support we need from the FA, they really dont like us, but maybe they will do their old mate Scteeve a favour after he failed to qualify for the euro's! NOT!

we really need to start selling players now before we can buy anymore, so would expect that to happen 1st - even if they go out on loan

According to GFNFrance (normally pretty accurate) we've just had a 17million Euro offer for Thauvin turned down. Apparently the offer was placed in the last few days, so if this is true it would suggest that NUFC are still actively pursuing further transfers.

    http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/newcastles-latest-bid-for-florian-thauvin-rejected/

We needed two new CBs last summer, so only one this summer is in no way good enough. If the Mbemba deal goes through I'd say we still need one more CB and a good pacy winger/wide forward to say the window has been good rather than bare minimum. Add a good Janmaat level LB and Austin to that and it would move into the unbelievable category.

I think we will get 2 more in.
    A CB and winger.
With Austin I believe he wants to come to us so I could see either a last minute deadline day deal or even a January deal for him as Mike tries to drive down the price.
I think once we know who is in, we will see a flurry of activity as people are moved out.. mostly on loan.

I know there is a lot written about this bid and that bid, that is total spherical objects, but 17m euros !
I don't really know that much about this Thauvin bloke and was wondering why we seem so keen to sign a player who obviously doesn't want to come?

What would he bring to the team and who else couLd we target that has similar attributes?

All of our pre-season matches have shown we desperately need PL standard CB's. Keep those clowns Taylor & Williamson as far away from the team/bench as possible.

This I agree with. I don't get it at all. He has made no mention of us, seems desperately intent on staying in Marseille, so if it's a real bid the question is....WHY?!?!?

For the money there has to be so many players we could get. Andros Townsend might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for £10m you'll be gambling far less in my opinion. Add to that Thauvin is LEFT wing, we just bought one for £12m? I genuinely don't get it. We still don't have a good defence, right midfielder or genuine hold-the-ball-up CF.

I don't think we are finished yet. Still plenty of rumours flying around and 1 month of transfer window left. Don't see why the 25 man squad is an issue. Can't we just not register some of them as players and make them work as highly paid bar staff or stewards. Alternatively send them all off on loan, with us picking up 90% of the tab. Don't think we can get a better deal for most of this lot.

It will be a loss because Williamson and Saylor will still be here. If Colo has a proper defender playing alongside him he will be fine. It must take its toll on him playing with those two and Dummett who are all piles of cancerous ****.
