Do you think Saints would sell Adam Lallana to Liverpool??

<peacedove>Liverpool want Southampton skipper Adam Lallana to strengthen their midfield options as they seek to maintain their Premier League title challenge.

The Reds need to bring in more quality to boost a squad which lacks depth in one or two areas if they are to keep the pressure on current leaders Arsenal.

A top-four finish is the bare minimum required at Anfield this season and Lallana, called into Roy Hodgson's squad for the forthcoming friendlies with Chile and Germany, has been identified as one of the players who could make a difference.

Lallana hopes to make an impact by making an impressive debut for the Three Lions this week and pushing for inclusion in the party heading to Brazil for next summer's World Cup.

"Every footballer in the whole Premier League would love to go to the World Cup," he said. "It is what dreams are made of, it's the pinnacle, so it'd be silly to say anything else really."

Good little player and part of a new breed of young, skilful, technical British footballers.

However, we need to look at better players with experience and the ability to match. Not saying Lallana isn't a good player - just that I don't wish to spend a sh*t loan on his potential and waiting 5 years to see if it comes off.

Rather spend the money on good quality players, with experience and reputation around Europe/World.

not personally no, think they will ask too much for him and he may be happy where he is, players have family and **** that goes with them now days, not just up to the player.

I can see City/Chelsea coming in, trumping all other offers and him sitting on their bench for 3 years.

Every player has a price as they say so I think they would but I don't think we should go near him, he would cost stupid money and imo there are far better options out there than him. We should let Chelsea spunk money on him and we will take him of them when his Chelsea career goes down the drain.

I would rather see them flourish where they are. These sort of moves usually finish a player's career. <ok>

the only reason they'd sell him is if they spent more moeny chasing some foreign player. he's in my FF team now.

Too much like Allen, Hughes, and the other names we have been linked with. Just don't think it would push us in the top four.

Good player, not good enough yet to push us on to the next level. If he came through our academy, I'd be made up and playing him but wouldn't be willing to pay the 20mill+ that Southampton would be asking. He'd be another Henderson or Allen; young British player with potential but raw and needs lots of work. Not what we need.

it won't happen but from matas pov if he's still wasting on the bench come Jan and wc coming up he may welcome a move.

we have the 30m for someone of his quality I would guess ?

I agree technically he's very good and also seems very composed, I think he would do well to stay with you lot and keep getting better if he's worth big money then it will come and he'll move on but why move at the moment when he seems to be enjoying his footy?

Good player, however being young, English, and flavour of the month, would be extremely expensive. Given Saints aren't desperate or money either, no way would be getting him on the cheap. Think he'd cost at least £15m and at the moment, that's a big risk for us.

He's very similar to Allen in that he's young, come up with his team from the lower divisions and performed well in the Prem.

He may well become a very good player, however I'd rather we spent an extra £5m and got someone who could instantly improve the first team.
