Will Benitez's appointment be a good thing for the club?

  1. YES

  2. NO

  1. This is a poll for Chelsea fans, and I have made the voting public, so that we can discount the views of wums and swooning Mousers.

We all know that Chelsea fans will get behind the new man, and that you all want him to do well - all of that is a given.

What I want to know is this. At this point in time, as things stand right here and now, do you think Benitez will be a good thing for the club?

We'll have a look at how things stand at the end of the season to see which of you called it right.

Also, I have purposely omitted a "don't know" option, because I want you Chelsea boys to nail your colours to the mast on this issue.

He could be, but ultimately he probably won't be given a fair chance by the owner, the players or the fans.

    So... no.

What's a good thing? We've just come off the back of a fabulous season that we won't repeat this year so I guess this season will be judged against that to some extent.

My assumptions is is that he is a steady pair of shrewd hands that will get us through this season ok and I have voted yes on this basis.

    Colours, mast, nailed!

Yes I think he is. I'm probably the only Chelsea fan that doesn't passionately despise him.

I never thought that RDM was the best man for the job and simply on experience Benitez should settle things down.

I went for yes using the logic that what does not kill you only makes you stronger.

No crystal ball but I anticipate that Juve & Shaktar will book their places leaving us with the European version of the League Cup to contend with; Europa should be a chance to rest key players and blood youngsters, this should enable us to focus on the more important of qualification for next seasons CL. Anyway here are three things that should count in Rafa's favour:

    (1) He's more experience than RDM & will be able to solve our defensive malaise.
    (2) The upcoming fixtures will become easier -hopefully the rot will stop.
    (3) Terry's return will bring much needed leadership & stability to the team.
